Jim Bohanon on Haditha massacre a few nights ago
The 1st caller was a marine recently back from Iraq. He basically said that if the reports were true that marines masscred civilians, he as a marine was furious; he said there was no excuse and that everyone involved all up the chain of command must be held responsible and punished.

The next several were, as far as I recall, all arm-chair warriors who excused the alleged killers and accused those reporting and discussing the story as enemies of 'our soldiers.'

I stopped listening. BUT I thought it very significant that a marine who had been in Iraq was the only one I heard unequivocally condeming the alleged actions.

1. How can Haditha be excused? I shudder to think
of anyone who condones this massacre as A-OK.

4. Trust me, they'll find a justification
even if it makes absolutely no sense at all AND they will defend it to the death! And if you corner them on it logically, you will be on the receiving end of the most vitriolic, hateful emails you have ever received. I speak from experience w/a freeper cousin who is now banned from emailing me. If shrubbie says the sky is green, they will look at the clear, blue sky & say "Yep, it's green." It's very scary. :scared:

2. Honestly?
I truly think that the RNC or Karl Rove hire people to monitor these shows and call in.

There are two main kinds I hear:

One will be a well-spoken male, without a discernable accent, who speaks very quickly and knowledgeably (in terms of Republican talking points), using good diction and pretty good debating skills. I always picture these guys as sitting in a back office of some RW Congressman.

The other type will be what sounds like a black man, with a very strong dialect, if that's the right term. Definitely doesn't sound like a professional or educated person. This one will produce one or two talking points and basically repeat them over and over. Makes one think he was hired to say those things but wasn't instructed as to any background or details.

The young professional-sounding white guy is the more prevalent of the two.

If it's a RWinger calling in to Sam Seder's show, he always starts out with "I'm a new listener, but . . . ." or "I've only heard your show a couple of times, but . . . "

Has anyone else heard these two types of RS callers to liberal and moderate talk shows?

5. Yep. And you can easily skip past their posts or put them on ignore.
On the radio, they have all the air space while they are on. :(
