Gonzales pressures ISPs on data retention
Edited on Sun May-28-06 12:32 AM by deacon
U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and FBI Director Robert Mueller on Friday urged telecommunications officials to record their customers' Internet activities, CNET News.com has learned.

snip

It was not immediately clear what Gonzales and Mueller meant by suggesting that network data be retained. One possibility is requiring Internet providers to record the Internet addresses their customers are temporarily assigned. A more extensive mandate would require companies to keep track of e-mail messages sent, Web pages visited and perhaps even instant-messaging correspondents.

1. Gonzales is a friggin' NAZI. He's been on the ISP bandwagon for months!

Why do you think there's been so much media attention as of late to Internet predators and fraud problems? This is nothing short of a coordinated effort by the Justice Dept. to muzzle the Internet and gain supervisory control over all of our electronic lives. They have deftly used the media to drum up concern and public support for their pro-fascist ways. Yes, there are Net predators and yes, there is fraud, but who wants to live in a country where EVERY WORD OR ACTION YOU MAKE ELECTRONICALLY is being watched. Fuck security...I'd rather be free.

I pray and hope that Gonzales and his pro-fascist ilk are replaced shortly after the 2008 election. That assumes that we still have a democracy by then.

WHO IS WATCHING THE WATCHERS!! People, we are at a critical point in our country's history...
