When I started useing Ad Sense on my rock music web site, I got ads for mineral sales, hip-hop albums and ticket scalpers! What you do is write in to have the url blocked, but it takes a little time.

The Google ad for CapitolReader.com is for a SUMMARY that they sell. It's a great service. They sell summaries of books from all persuasions. In the end, if they buy THAT, they probably won't buy the book. Why panic if someone might be "exposed" to Ann Coulter? Totalitarian-like fear of other ideas is a LOT worse than DU making a buck off a Google ad.

you or others mention some right wing hate-monger on DU, you give them greater prominence in "internet space" and boost the likelihood that they will move up to top rank in search engines. The Google adSense server scans in each page for words associated with its advertisers, and the more people talk about right-wing propagandists, the more likely we are to see ads for their products.

Something worth remembering, and such ads are probably appropriate punishment for playing with that trash and spreading it around.

In short, don't give their BS any further "airtime" on BU and we are far less likely to see that kind of content mirrored in the ad content.

By starting this thread you have almost certainly made Skinner's job of ad monitoring much harder by assuring that the adSense server will bring in much more of the kind of trash you are complaining about.
