Ban on cattle drug offers hope of saving India's vultures from extinction
Only a week ago or so, I saw a National Geographic sponsored one-hour show on the dramatic decline in the numbers of 3 types of vultures in India (and nearby countries). During filming, scientists discovered the source of the decline: a common anti-inflammatory drug for livestock. This drug has now been banned, which I didn't think the Indian government would actually do. That it has provides some element of hope here. There is also a vulture-safe alternative robbing corporations and ranchers of any legitimate excuse to evade the ban.

Details at: http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article570196.ece

Hopefully this move will actually do some good.
