Would you get mad about this book?
http://www.workingassetspublishing.com/?campid=58444746

I received an e-mail from a family friend, who is very liberal (would be considered "far-left" even here on DU), in which he seems livid that Working Assets, our friendly, well-behaved, liberal telephone company, would be advertising this book.

Reading the description, it seems like a fine read...hell, the author was quoted by Russ Feingold when he proposed censuring Bush.

Is there something I'm not getting? Is this Glenn Greenwald guy a Freeper-type or something? I don't get why a liberal would be angry over a liberal company advertising a seemingly Bush-unfriendly book.

Can anyone tell me if there's something I'm not seeing here?

1. I can't see anything wrong with it,
except that if your friend is as far-left as you say, he may be angry that the book isn't as strong against conservatives as he'd like and that he puts some responsiblity and blame on Democrats. That's the only thing I can think of.

3. I don't know.
He's more a liberal than he is a Democrat (I don't know if he's even a registered Dem or an Independent). In terms of age, he is getting quite a ways up there, so I do wonder if it's there's a bit of senility involved.

Ask them what's wrong with it, I've heard great reviews.

11. Under normal circumstances, yes.
However, since it's ZombieNixon's thread, it's not a real threadjack. It's just kind of us following him out of the lounge and playing.

15. Hey there's some quality stuff in that thread.
Edited on Tue May-23-06 02:44 PM by haruka3_2000
It even contains several pages of Finnegan's Wake and a picture of a fundie church sign I hijacked (it's in the bottom couple posts).

Edited for grammar. Oh the irony of editing a post, for grammar, when it contains the words Finnegan's Wake.

16. I must admit.
I've failed to get through Finnegan's Wake. There just isn't enough aspirin in the world.

17. Apparently, there's a group of people up in Boston that...
have been meeting at a bar trying to get through it for a few years now. My favorite English teacher would only say "there's a fine line between experimentalism and crap" if we asked her opinion.

Apparently, I seemed to have made a promise that when it gets locked, or when it broke the record length (I forget which), I'll read the whole thread, open the bottle of Jameson 1780 and start reading Finnegan's Wake.

18. Send out a distress call when you need to be rescued.
I'll come out to Jersey and pull you away from your computer for some food and face-to-face. :P

12. Hey, ZombieNixon!
haruka3_2000 says that this doesn't count as thread-jacking. I'm not sure, but I have a biase here because I'd love to be able to say I've finally highjacked a thread. What's your feeling on this? :)

Yeah, I think it counts as a threadjacking, but it's not a *real* threadjacking until your replies go vertical. (If ya know what I mean. ;))
