I suggest that everyone please give up on that possibility and move on. The rule of law is inoperable right now. And please, please forget the word Fitzmas.

4. A humble opinion
To believe that Bush would allow it to happen is fantasy. In the context of all the laws that have been broken, it is simply absurd to believe that Alberto the torturer will allow it to happen.

29. And what do you think Fitz will do, if that is the case?
Simply submit?

Resign and explain why?

Disappear?

Are there any other options for him?

32. Fitzgerald is not the issue here.
He may make himself the issue, and that would be right and good. But he is actor in a play that is orchestrated by very evil forces. These forces are not going to allow an investigation to derail their grand plans.

34. You did not answer my question.
He "may" make himself the issue? Does that mean you believe there is a possibility that he would just submit?

Another question: why did they permit the Libby indictment?

And yes, if the DOJ wants him to submit, he may. They've killed senators for less.

36. Certainly your opinion has merit, based on the ugly reality.
However, my questions are intended to make you question your own opinion. And the fact that you have evaded those questions makes me think even less of your opinion.

Did you think through questions like these before you expressed your opinion here?

10. Given the level of emotion invested in wanting to see
these criminals brought to justice, I believe that we sometimes lose sight of certain realities. So you are free to put the sarcasm gear into overdrive, it doesn't hurt my feelings, but I would urge anyone who is able to put aside the emotion and confront the reality.

5. Move On To What?
If the rule of law is inoperative, then Al Gore does not stand a chance of being elected,
nor does any other Democrat. They'll just fix the elections and say they won. Again.

17. Completely dishonest of you.
If your only argument is that anyone who raised questions about the Leopold article is a "Rove apologist," you are being terribly dishonest and manipulative. "You're either for Leopold or for Rove." Sounds kinda, hmmm...ROVIAN, doesn't it?

It's the same "with us or against us" bullshit. Most DUers can see through posts that say that kind of stuff. It's the hallmark of a weak argument.

38. I lean toward it's already happened
It makes sense that it was a sealed indictment and now it's plea bargaining time, and they want to get as much info about the "conspiracy" as possible before making the public announcement. In this instance Roves team would be denying any indictment has happened. I am not usually the hopeful type but this is my gut feeling. I am not going to get my hopes up though. Anything can happen at this point.

23. alternatives
Seems to me that in simpler times a man named Nixon also tried to wave the rule of law by removing Archibald Cox as Watergate Special Prosecutor. I don't recall if there was (at the time) an effort to keep it mum, but it backfired on him nonetheless. What else would you expect Bush to do? He's up against the wall, with no political capital or legal alternatives left to him. This apparent course of events (having Gonzalez somehow reverse an indictment in process) should come as a shock to none.
