Don't let them subject us to fifty more years of military build up.
Like they did with the "Cold War". The "Cold War" was a bunch of bullshit where they played on peoples fears. One thing that we can do is not allow them this so called "Long War" or the so called "War on Terror". Just don't call it that. If you ever have to refer to the U.S. military actions in the Middle East and Central Asia, call them the "Oil Executives War of Western Aggression". I notice that putting "so called" in front of "War on Terror" takes away a lot of it's pizazz. Sure they will be able to perform the military engagements with out our say or approval but we don't have to let it permeate through out our culture. Hell, they have people afraid to speak out against "the troops" for fear of being called unpatriotic. Ours is already aggressive militaristic culture and the Dogs of War want more.

1. We aren't. IMO it's all forced. The "so called War on Terror"
can't stand if we're to be America again, our rights have basically been suspended in its name.

2. Ike warned us about the Military-Industrial-Complex.
However the very culture of this country has been militarized. It's not a notion, it's an internalized ideal.

There are very few, if any, people that grew up in this country without militarization as "our" core value.

If you don't get all frenzied about killing the current enemy, then you're ridiculed as a "girly-man." So much for how sexism has been used.

Look at our prison population for another example. We lead the world! Yeah!

The grotesque way in which this culture has been manipulated explains (for me) why George Bush was an acceptable 'choice' for so many citizens. So sad.

4. To think if the military budget were put to social use...

the money wasted on the cold war could have paid for college educations and lifetime healthcare for everyone.

ours is an EVIL society, and we shall ultimately reap what we have sewn.
