WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? - PART II - WHERE TO TAKE IT
Those of you who read and responded to my post yesterday, thank you.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1164712

An extremely important point came resounding through many of your responses and it was what I was hoping for.

Protests have power ... but no one can see the protests unless they happen to be physically in the vicinity.

Blogs and message boards have power ... but not everyone reads them.

A common theme of many of your responses can be summed up:

THE MSM DOESN'T COVER PROTESTS

Sooooooooooooo, here's a thought: perhaps protests are aimed in the wrong direction? As Americans you still have the power of being CONSUMERS. You are CONSUMERS everytime you turn to CNN, or MSNBC or (puke) FOX, or ABC News, or NBC news or CBS news ... . You don't like their service right? STOP WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!! (I know most DUers don't, so don't take offense) March at news headquarters, broadcasting stations. Have your signs ready and the next time some reporter is conducting an interview on the street, hold it up "Mainstream media, tell us the truth", write MSM letters. Emails are deleted with a quick click. Letters make piles of paper whether read or not, sheer numbers have an impact. Take out full page ads (get some donations from friends if needed) in major newspapers and denounce mainstream media. When American Morning is doing their stupid shit outside their studio, be there with your signs ... smile and joke but when the camera is on you, HOLD UP THE SIGNS! My point is this. Your government is corrupt and you all know it, but millions of American's don't! Protesting Bush is tiring, doesn't have an impact and if it looks like it might have some impact, you can be sure the MSM will find a way to discredit it. They are even more the enemy of truth than the politicians. We expect politicians to lie, we expect (or used to) our reporters to tell us the truth.

Tell them now, tell them loudly, tell them clearly WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE WON'T WATCH YOU ANYMORE!

Come on! Grab your Colballs and DO IT!

1. I wholeheartedly agree...break the fingers strangling the media.
Get in their face.

March on television studios. Hold open-air Town Hall meeting outside. Invite speakers, and Democrats in office or running for office.

Plan monthly convergances on the local affiliates, each one with a different theme: Cover the Corruption! Show Us the Money (the US Gov Stole From Us), Progressives for Media Freedom! Balance is Fair!

We must multi-task, or our candidates cannot be heard, our issues will not be heard.

It wouldn't take more than 50 or 100 showing up every week to start to get traction.

And if they don't cover us, we can take our own film and pictures and blog it, and send letters and e-mails to the media of the blogosphere coverage.

The Right-Wing took time to build their stranglehold from both the bottom and the top.

We must start somewhere. Or, our candidates will be blacked-out and non-starters.

2. Great ideas!
This is where it needs to go now to really get moving, IMO.
