Reply from Verizon:
(to my insistance that any illegal sharing of my records with a third party absent a valid warrant constituted a breach of contract and that they may be liable)

"Dear ________,

Thank you for contacting the Verizon eCenter. My name is Christine, and I will be handling your request today.

This message is in response to your email dated May 11, 2006. You inquired about NSA.

We appreciate that the USA Today article and other reports about the possibility that the NSA is able to analyze local call data records is causing concern. Please be assured that Verizon places the highest value on protecting the privacy of our customers.

Anything to do with the NSA is of course highly classified, so we can not comment on whether or not the news article causing concern is even accurate. But we can say that, to the extent that we cooperate with government authorities, we are confident that we are complying with all applicable statutes. We appreciate the continuing opportunity to provide you with service.

Thank you for using Verizon. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,
Christine
Verizon eCenter"

I sent a reply back saying basically, you didn't answer my question - did you give my phone records to anyone without my permission? No response yet... don't expect one.

Waiting for the class action lawsuit to start!

9. "We think our ass is covered. Thank you for writing."
Of course with state secrets privilege, if customers can't find out that their ass isn't covered they can't get a judge to find them guilty and award damages.

So I can understand the confidence.

11. What do you expect
Edited on Fri May-12-06 03:41 PM by demnan
Verizon is just plain evil. I switched from MCI last winter, now I have MCI hounding me for unpaid bills because Verizon didn't notify them I had switched and Verizon processing my on time payments as late. Verizon just sucks on principle, and that goes for Verizon Wireless too. I'm thinking of halting all phone service, seriously.

You know, that would be a viable protest, what do you guys think? Boycott all phone service!!!
