AT&T gone as *long distance* carrier as of today! :)
:hi:

I managed to get rid of AT&T/SBC as my long distance carrier. Before getting rid of them, I had to be enrolled in some form type of long distance carrier so I was in a "plan" for $2.00 a month which either was never used or it ended up being way over the $2.00 a month charge. It was not working out right and was a pain in the butt.

I also canceled call waiting being I now have DSL, so no more call waiting either.

I switched back to my old carrier which was Primus Telecommunications. They will also be picking up all local toll calls as well and no more #'s to dial ad infinitum!

However, AT&T still owns my local area network phone line but my ISP manages to bypass it I found out.

So, I still have AT&T to a point but for the most part they are now *poof* gone. :D

Well worth it - no more long #'s to dial to use the MCI card, etc.

:dem:

2. I just got rid of AT&T about 30 minutes ago
The person I talked with at QWest told me they have been having a lot of people switching over since yesterday.

3. Are you sure about Primus not
giving out you call detail records?? Primus still uses ATT/SWB lines and probably the ATT/SWB telephone switch. Probably in all likelihood the only thing you switched is who you pay your bill to. By law ATT/SWB is mandated to sell excess capacity to secondary telecoms for a wholesale price.

4. I had Primus before
and their calls likely use the lines but they are located in India so good luck getting any detailed information from them about my account. I do know that in order to bypass Primus, it is almost impossible once it is hooked up (I went through this last year and had to dial another # to place a call that was billed to me from AT&T).

I had them for several years and just very recently switched to AT&T and their little $2.00 a month plan.
