5. Eeeek!
The problem I have with this statement is that most "Arabs" (btw--many of the oil-rich nations in the Middle East are NOT Arabic, but are Persian and other ethnic groups as well), is that the people in these countries are already being screwed.

What it WILL do is "stick it" to the major oil companies (many of them owned and operated by American and/or European interests) and OPEC.

Nothing would make me happier than to see that.

11. Uh...I am currently living and working in...
...the ARAB Republic Of Egypt...to use the official name of the country.

They don't have any oil.

But every day or so, an Egyptian asks me: "Why do Americans hate the Arabs?"

I wonder why they would think that? Maybe they read Ann Coulter. Or sometimes...DU.

12. E85 is a fools paradice...
It costs more to produce that the benefits we receive from it. If we go that route, we will be sticking it to us, not just the oil producers.

13. E-85, gee, I guess you haven't heard the news
Bushco is now looking to lift the tariffs on Brazilian ethanol, and since it is so utterly cheap, the market will be flooded with the shit, and instead of being bent over the oil barrel, we'll be bent over the ethanol barrel.

No, if you really want to kick our oil dependency to the curb there's only one way to go, biodiesel. With oil bearing algae, we can supply all of our fuel needs with biodiesel and then some. In fact we should mandate that within ten years all vehicles are equipped with diesel engines, and start building the refineries needed to make the stuff. It would be a boon to our farmers, it would be much easier on the enviroment, and it would be cheap and renewable. Oh, and the algae stock that you make it out of, well that's good for cleaning up our wastewater, thus saving money at water treatment plants.

Ethanol is not the way to go. We don't have enough crop land to supply all of our fuel needs, and the processing and refining process is quite polluting.

So rather than go with ethanol, let's go with biodiesel, it would be much better for all of us.

22. Isolationism is not enlightenment
We are one humanity, a nomadic speicies that walks the earth,
that trades with each other to mutual advantage or not at all.

Maybe when the guns that "stick it to the arabs" today by
killing thousands will ring silent and your isolationism will
save them... or it will put a billion others in peril for its
withdrawl of human rights to only outside US borders.
