Tampa Tribune Editor arrested for DUI
Naturally it was reported in the St. Pete Times.

Tribune editor arrested for DUI
By Times Staff
Published May 9, 2006

TAMPA -- Janet Weaver, executive editor of the Tampa Tribune, was arrested shortly after midnight Tuesday on a charge of DUI, according to an arrest report.

Weaver, 43, was arrested by Tampa police at 12:30 a.m. and accused of driving with a blood alcohol level between 0.081 and 0.085, according to an arrest report. In Florida, a driver is presumed to be impaired at a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.

Weaver was arrested at the intersection of N Howard Avenue and W Kennedy Boulevard, police say. She spent five hours in the Orient Road jail before posting $500 bail.

1. There's a four letter word that can solve these problems
TAXI!!!!!!!!!!

It's cheaper than five hundred bucks bond, plus court costs, and the fine.

To say nothing of losing one's license.

3. That's just the beginning...
Most DUI's involve community service, alcohol counseling and random tests. All of these cost money. Plus a possible increase in insurance rates. Of course someone with some power like an editor of a newspaper probably won't get any of this.

2. Where is the Tampa Times when you need them
When I was growing up in Tampa we had two newspapers: The Tampa Tribune and the Tampa Times.

Every town should have at least two competing newspapers. But I suppose that in these times that's no longer possible.
