The "far left" slur is backfiring.

You can't accuse someone who thinks Colbert's funny or bush is stupid or anything non-Bushspeak of being far left if they already know they *aren't* far left. Al that does is put you over on the far right in their eyes.

Alienation...

1. Yes, the slur (the left, liberal, democrat) itself is no longer "a slur"

because we've been controlled by REPUBLICANs since 1994.

Ole' Newt's "Contract with America" is selling out the working and middle classes.

Gee perhaps those liberals and democrats have some valid points? Ya think? ;)

2. I guess the 65% who disapprove of the chimp are the "far left".
And the 31% who approve of him are the "mainstream". You see? It's easy to understand when you define your terms.

3. The discourse has shifted so far to the right in the past 20 years...

thatr centrists are being called 'far left', which is pretty ridiculous. There IS no 'far left' in mainstream American politics, really (or much in mainstream UK politics anymore, either, thanks to 'New Labour'); just about anyone you can name even in the Democratic party is solidly right of centre (it makes me laugh when I hear some clueless idiot say that Hillary Clinton is a 'far left liberal', for instance; Dennis Kucinich is probably the only fairly well-known leftist politician I can think of in the States).
