3. Well, if I wanted to get flamed...
I'd point out all the times the third party "no difference" crowd squawked in 2000 about how Bush would NEVER actually outlaw abortion or nominate an extremist and how ultimately there would be no difference between a Gore and a Bush presidency.

And then they'd point out how Gore actually won the election but didn't fight. Then I'd point out that this is the rhetorical equivalent of pointing out how many schools in Iraq are opened when someone states that there were no WMD's which was the main justification for the war.

And then the back and forth flames would ensue and we'd still find ourselves at the end of the discussion sitting here in 2006 with our rights being whittled away and a second extremist who wants to take away a woman's right to choose, always side with big business, and wants to give the president all consuming power over the American people.

So I won't bother

4. Well, they may never outlaw abortion
they don't have to. All they need to do is keep making it more and more "immoral", and soon it will be treated and regarded as an illegal act. They will be able to shame enough people out of having abortions, or make it so the procedure is so difficult to obtain that only the wealthiest and most well-connected (read: Republicans) will be able to get them. And what of all the unwanted children, all the children who can't be provided for? Well, fuck 'em. They stopped being important the moment they stopped being a fetus and became a person.

You're right, though.

Even though Alito will never lead the way to banning abortion, he seems to be very interested in deffering as much power and authority to Bush as he possibly can. In that regard, he is not only an extremist but is also a threat to our democracy.

6. Yes the rich will get "therapudic D & C's"
and the poor will do anything with a hanger to get rid of it or throw it in a dumpster once it is born. My mother was a nurse prior to abortion being legal and it was horrifying. One girl came in with a bottle of Coke shoved up inside her. She had heard that you can shake up a bottle of Coke and shove it up there to get rid of baby. It had to be broken to release the suction. They sent her home to try another method. God only knows what happened later.

5. I have two daughters aged 24 and 13.
I think I will start putting a crushed birth control pill in their oatmeal every morning just to be safe. Unbelievable that women do not rise up and revolt against a bunch of men deciding what we should do with our own bodies. Even if you do not believe in abortion, you should be offended that we are being treated like brood mares by a bunch of men. Sorry for the rant.
