Fitzgerald is a workaholic - Wikipedia entry
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 01:37 PM by Triana
Mr. Fitzgerald's birthday is the same day as my brother's. He's a Capricorn. These guys are serious workaholics. Work is God to them - they can't seem to DO anything but work and they are extremely articulate. Here's more from Wikipedia about him (emphasis mine):
_ _ _ _ _
Patrick J. Fitzgerald

Patrick J. Fitzgerald, JD (born December 22, 1960) is an American attorney and the current U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. On December 30, 2003, Fitzgerald was appointed to continue the investigation into the Plame affair. Fitzgerald was named by Deputy Attorney General James B. Comey after then-Attorney General John Ashcroft recused himself from the case due to conflicts of interest.

Career

Fitzgerald was born into a working-class Irish American-Catholic family in Brooklyn and grew up in the Flatbush neighborhood. His father (also named Patrick Fitzgerald) worked as a doorman in Manhattan. Fitzgerald attended Our Lady Help of Christians grammar school (where he received the coveted General Excellence award in 1974), Regis High School, a Jesuit Catholic school in Manhattan, and received degrees in economics and mathematics from Amherst College before receving his JD from Harvard Law School in 1985.<1><2>

After practicing civil law, Fitzgerald became an Assistant United States Attorney in New York City in 1988. He handled drug-trafficking cases and in 1993 assisted in the prosecution of Mafia figure John Gotti, the boss of the Gambino crime family. In 1994, Fitzgerald became the prosecutor in the case against Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and 11 others charged in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. In 1996, Fitzgerald became the National Security Coordinator for the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. There, he served on a team of prosecutors investigating Osama bin Laden.<3> He also served as chief counsel in prosecutions related to the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania.

On September 1, 2001, Fitzgerald was nominated for the position of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois on the recommendation of U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald (no relation), a Republican from Illinois. On October 24, 2001, the nomination was confirmed by the Senate.

3. I suspect he won't be so beloved...
...if he doesn't indict Rove - but I don't think he will without an adequate case to do so. I didn't know when his birthday was, or that he'd helped prosecute Gotti. Guess I'm outta the loop!

13. Yeah, I'm prepared for the scorn here if he doesn't indict Turd Blossom.
Fitzgerald knows he (and his team) is screwed no matter the outcome. Either the Republicans will hate him or the Democrats will hate him, he doesn't care. But I would never hate him...Fitzie is my homeboy! :-)

2. He's a Republican appointee, but I'm not convinced he is very partisan
... for obvious reasons considering current events.

7. I don't think so...
...he operates on facts only. Doesn't seem to matter to him what party is involved.

6. Sure wish he'd speed things up tho
We'd won WWII in almost the amount of time he's been taking with
this investigation. All these crooks will be dead before they
are finally convicted at the rate this is going.
Indict em all now, let the peons blow the whistle on the big fish in
exchange for lower bunks in sing/sing, and let's start sharpening the
needles for biggies already! :+

...but I suspect he won't budge until / unless he has every fact lined up and a tight case.

9. He has to be that way
This case is way too important to leave any base uncovered. He has to make sure this thing is airtight. Fitzgerald is very methodical, we just have to remain patient, hard as that is.
