Going for 3rd interview soon.
Job: Director of Fund Development and Communications at my local Y.

They are torn between me and 1 other candidate. I know nothing about him/her.

My first interview was with the ED. We hit it off very well. We talked for over 3 hours. I left feeling like I had it in the bag. He told me I would have a 2nd interview with senior staff, as he needed their buy-in.

My second interview was with 2 senior staff members, the AD and a program director. I had good chemistry with the AD, but felt intimidated by the program director. I had a bad cold, kept losing my voice and having to drink water. Some of the questions were leading into negative areas (like, what type of person don't you like to work with, what don't you like about your current work environment) and I feel I had trouble transitioning into the positive with my answers. And there is something that they don't traditionally do as part of their fundraising efforts that is pretty standard, and worthwhile. I asked if it were something that had simply never been implemented before, or if they were firmly against it. The AD felt it was something that could be implemented in the future. The program director was firmly against it. I thought she was wrong and I argued with her. I think I left the impression that I was groomed in a vastly different fundraising philosophy than them and would have trouble adjusting. And I feel I didn't have enough questions for them as I'd really asked all my questions in the first interview and have done so much research.

So I left feeling that I may have blown it.

My next interview will be with the Regional VP. It all comes down to this interview.

I need to make sure to stay positive, and not let myself get lead into talking about the negative aspects of any given work environment. I need to show that I'm flexible and can adapt to new ideas. And I need to make sure I have questions prepared that demonstrate that I have been listening and have done research.

A former supervisor sent an excellent letter on my behalf. And of course, I always send thank you notes.

What else can I do?

Thanks!

2. Third interview went really well.
The ED told me today he'll call my references, meet with the regional VP and give me his decision by the end of the week.

The Regional VP was talking like I had the job.

The whole thing is making me so nervous now.

OK, back to work. I still am at my current job, after all.

And thanks!

3. Excellent! I was wondering how it was going...
If the VP is talking like you have the job, maybe you can relax a bit? :) Keep us posted!
