I've discovered something weirdly wonderful
You know how the "experts" are always saying it's probably better to eat smaller more frequent meals during the day?

I think that's what works for me.

I've gone back to treating my body the same way my mother did when I was a baby. I feed myself every 3.5 - 4 hours or so. I don't have to eat a lot, either, maybe just a piece of fruit or a can of V8. Just make sure there's something in my stomach during that time.

Waiting so long between three big meals is too long for me and makes my blood sugar bottom out apparently. And makes me too ravenous, so that I eat a whole bunch of stuff I'm not supposed to: like bread, pasta, and sweets (all the stuff that gives me a quick sugar rush, just to feel "alert" again.

I'm still sticking to my eating (moderately low carb, I eat low carb (and low carb vegges +1 or 2 fruit/day) and exercise plans. Having experimented with it before, I've been doing this seriously since the beginning of December. I'm down four pounds.

1. Congrats on the lost 4!
I surprise everyone with how often and how much I eat. Since having WLS 3.5 years ago I have to concentrate on eating properly to live instead of living to eat. I eat about 6 or sometimes 8 times a day! Small meals, low carb lots of protein.

continued success to you!

2. I'm down 11 kilos since September
by following this basic change in diet.
Frequent meals, high protein, practically no processed (and grain-based) carbs, only veggies and some fruits for carbs, raw nuts for snacks, and drinking over 2 liter water a day.
I eat eggs, cheeses, fish, meats, nuts, whey powder, some dried beans, and some tempeh/tofu once or twice a week. I also eat plenty of fats and have no hunger like I used to on many other diets.

Drinking the water has helped me a lot I think, but took some time to build up to this quantity.

I also allow myself a free choice weekend every 2 weeks to eat the things I used to love, but I've noticed that I am starting to choose the more healthy lower carb meals and snacks naturally and have far less cravings for the higher carb foods.

With daily walks, this is allowing me to lose weight slowly and in a very healthy manner. Most importantly, with NO hunger or feeling of deprivation (after I got over the high carb cravings)

During the holidays I gained a pound or 2, but know that when I return to my simpler low carb eating I'll be back in the losing mode once again. I hope to lose 11 more kilos before my birthday in March.

I feel so much better after this initial weight loss, and look forward to further gains in my health, appearance and confidence.

Keep up the good plan that works best for you!

3. works for me, too
I was told by my CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) that I should try to eat something every three hours. That way my body knows what to "expect" and won't go off dumping a lot of carbs from my liver into my blood stream because my blood sugar drops too low. It also keeps my appetite under control, and since it's always "almost time" to eat again, I don't feel as deprived. You just need to make sure that your meals are smaller to make up for it.
