I took a bunch of XXL shirts out of my closet today
After losing 73 pounds, none of the shirts I wore last summer are my size anymore. Next to go will be some sport coats I can't wear anymore. All are going to charity.

This is getting to be expensive. A lot of the clothes I am getting rid of are quality items I bought because I didn't feel good about how I looked. I thought I could compensate by wearing nicer duds. But, in realty, I look better in a cheap large than I do in an expensive 2XL.

I'm thinking Kohls might be a cost-effective place to shop for the new stuff. Any advice?

1. I understand how you feel.
Getting rid of "fat clothes" is always bittersweet for me. I lament ever having bought them -- the waste of money, mainly. And there are some I actually really liked. Since I lost about 70 pounds five years ago, I still have lots of smaller clothes so at least I don't have a lot of shopping to do as I lose weight this time.

Congratulations! Kohls definitely has some nice clothes and good sales. Happy shopping! :hi:

2. Kohls quality is horrible

but it's cheap and they have sales all the time making it even cheaper so it's a good place if you still plan on losing weight and don't want to waste your money on expensive clothes you wont wear for long.

even if you don't plan on losing weight the stuff is cheap enough that it will be a matter of "getting what you paid for".

i would recommend just going to stores that sell discounted designer and better quality clothes. stores like TJ Max, Ross, Marshalls etc.

3. Check out Goodwill
I'm not sure if they do this across the country, but they have half price Saturdays every two weeks. I've started to buy clothes there as my weight goes down. I call them "transitional clothes." Liz Claiborne jeans for $3, shorts for $2. Maybe they were worn twice. I also shop at TJMaxx and Dillard's clearance sales.

Good luck. It's been hard to put some of my long time favorites in the donate pile but hey, it feels great to be lighter.

4. I like XXL shirts!
Currently I'm a little heavier than I want to be. My goal is to shed the extra 15 pounds or so, after which the same clothes will hang looser on me, which is the way I like it! I think big shirts look good on young guys, and I envy their sex appeal.
