1. Amazing that you found that site!
That company was started by a guy named Hamilton Erridge in California. He lost 100 pounds on Optifast and started his own liquid diet board -- www.liquiddietdiscussion.com. I joined the board in 2003 when I went on Medifast and lost about 60 pounds. It was the first message board I had ever joined and I found it very helpful.

Since then, Hamilton developed these high-protein diet products which you eat in addition to a healthy meal of lean protein and vegetables for a total of 1050 calories per day. Or you can do it using just the diet products. I ordered an 8-week supply and found them to be pretty tasty, especially compared to some of the other similar products out there, such as Medifast and Slimfast. However, I'm a little leery of low-calorie diets, though New Lifestyles has more calories than Medifast at only 450!. Since I lost that 60 pounds and gained back 50, I cannot seem to lose weight and I'm afraid it's because my diet isn't responding to a reduction in calories. I don't blame Medifast alone but years of dieting has really messed up my metabolism.

So my approach right now is to count calories using www.fitday.com (an outstanding site!) -- my goal is 1600 calories per day which is about a 1000-calorie deficit between what I burn, including exercise, and what I consume -- at least, on paper. I've been doing this for three weeks and have lost about five pounds so it's going to be slow but maybe if I keep at it, my metabolism will eventually adjust.

So what I can say about Hamilton's company is that he seems to be a very stand-up guy who cares about his product and his website. The program also works and the products seem to be of good quality. But I do have my doubts about the long-term ramifications of cutting back calories so much.

I'm interested in our group's views on this subject!

2. for most of this past year i have been attending a medical weight
management program and have managed to lose 50 lbs (without the help of any diet pills which i did not want to take). the shakes and bars used in that died program are called BUILDING BLOCKS. since next week will be my last visit with the maintenance program i am currently on, i looked for some protein bars and shakes that would be similar to the ones i have used since i started the died program. the health store around here has some similar ones. however, the products listed in the newlifediet.com have a nutritional value exactly like the bards i have been purchasing from BUILDING BLOCKS. They same to be produced by the same company under different brand names. I can only get BUILDING BLOCKS while being an active participant in the program that i have been following. I was now needing to find a way to keep up with my diet and found this site with the amazing similarity to what has worked for me so far. i won't of course have the advantage of going in for weekly weigh-ins but hopefully i can stay focused and continue to lose weight. my metabolism has always been down on the floor and that is part of my problem with my weight, that and the fact that i don't really like to exercise plust the fact that i need to reduce my calorie intake. my iron intake became borderline in the last three months so they prescribed iron pills to which i had an allergic reaction. i have now found some chelated iron pills and those seem to be working fine. the hypnotherapy sessions i attended at the beginning of my diet program are also a help as i seem to be able to keep focused and stay off of the foods i should not be eating.

Best wishes to both of us in our dieting--and to everyone else who finds themselves in the same predicament of needing to diet.

When I was with Quick Weight Loss Centers, they had shakes and bars I really liked, but were sold exclusively through clinics and doctor's offices. The shakes they had that I liked so much were not really shakes, but drinks like lemonade, fruit punch, etc. I looked at GNC and other places, but last time I looked, they didn't have anything with similar profiles, but the Wild Berry Fruit Drink looks just like what I used to drink at QWLC! Tastes great, thin, not goopy, and very low on sugar (without sugar alcohols' laxative effect!).

Have you tried many of the products? Any specific recommendations? I have to wait a couple days and check back because Wild Berry is out of stock, but I plan to order some bars too.

4. Before you order anything
I have a bunch I'd be happy to sell you for half price. There's nothing wrong with them but I'm just not planning on doing this type of diet. I don't have any bars but I have several flavors of the shakes/puddings, some oatmeal, and some hot chocolate drinks. I'd be glad to send you some samples. (Hamilton, the guy who has the site, will, too, I believe.)

I liked the shakes better when made into a pudding. The hot drinks were pretty good and so is the oatmeal. I liked all of the bars except the oatmeal type -- they were edible but just not my favorites.

5. I usually like the fruit drinks much better than the shakes,
but I could try a couple samples and see what I think. I'll PM you.
