On Reaching sixty
I suddenly find my life

becoming my history

That happens

when you reach a certain age

beyond fifty

and so

for my children , and other interested parties

it begins:

I will wear a purple hat

and say outrageous things

I will get a cat

and together

we will grow fat

I will watch the birds

and

plant a garden

of herbs

I will stay up all night

reading

and thinking

when I was young

I had no time

for living

6. Good work, JitterbugPerfume
Makes me think what I will be like when I'm 60. Hopefully I will be able to take the time and do some living. I'm hoping to be retired by then. I'm doing my best now to slow down and smell the roses, but the damn bills just keep coming.

8. I'm doing my best

I'm getting out more often than I used to. I was becoming a real home body there for a while. I went to a conference on mental illness last week and had an informative and good time. If you've been to the mental health group you will know that I have a special interest in that area. Then I went to the northeast Ohio meetup last weekend and hanged out with some DUers. I've also been conversing with a few people via e-mail who I have a lot in common with and I'm going to get to meet one of them this summer.

Jitterbug Perfume says
every day is a gift
and if you don't believe that
then your brain needs a lift.
