Poll question: Buy & hold the S&P: still a safe long term strategy?
With what looks like dangerous economic times, a precipitous dollar, a looming threat of inflation, poor bond yields, widespread corporate corruption and market manipulation, can the S&P still deliver long term gains with relative safety?

1. Long term, it's a good plan. All data suggests that.
It's good to also have a small cap fund and an international fund as well for diversification.

I agree as well.

I'd hate to be anywhere near actually needing that capital though...

3. I don't think so
Most show the stock market gains over many years. If you look at P/E ratios and other concerns in the economy, I personally don't think it will gain like it did before. We're trying to move to international funds, more fixed investments, and individual investments.
