Remember the Brooks saddle? My Prostate won't forget, but
they were lovely. Here's a pictorial essay of the making of that beautiful hunk of leather and metal.

2. I've had both Brooks and Ideale. Both were terrific saddles.

I had to go with an Avocet. It was more comfortable for the 300 plus miles a week.

3. 300mi/wk on leather makes my ass hurt just thinking about it
My fi'zi:k Antares is very comfortable even though it's relatively small. Good "sit bones" support.

But I'm only riding 100mi/wk.

Can't find a web site for Ideale Saddles, everyone says they are out of business (at least as far as the US Market is concerned).

7. Much better marketed since Selle Royal purchased them in 2002.

8. I purchased a Phat Cycle several years ago, at that time you could opt for a Leather saddle
http://www.phatcycles.com/

I do NOT know if it is still available but it looked much like a B33 Brooks but was made in the USA. I need to get a front spring for it, it snapped after heavy use but otherwise a very good saddle.

9. Like the Seacrest Noir, but would rather have the Fixie.
Fix is for a younger fellow than I. I used to ride a Fuji Track Bike. Used to use my gloved hand on the back wheel as the brake. Not fun if your hand gets caught between the wheel and frame. You fall down in an ugly fashion. My right arm is now a bit longer than the left. :)
