KOEB Bar is open!
Graffiti on the bathroom walls is O.K., but no carving stuff in the wood work. Leave your keys with the bartender, we want you safe and coming back. Cats, dogs, ferrets, and other pets are always welcome. If you're happy, this is the place to be. If you're sad, this is the place to come for support. The bartender will gladly give advice to all that solicit it, or a sympathetic ear to those that need it. All PM's will be answered. There's no cover, the drinks are free.

Did you see this thread on how seeing and listening to him makes a lot of us physically ill?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3562198
I thought I was just being a weird wimp, but it's not unsual. There is something so gut-wrenchingly WRONG about him. I can't even think of him as a "man" any more. He's this THING that I really can't bear to see or hear.

What a relief to find the cozy haven you had created for us. Thank you!

I never had any intention of watching it. I long ago reached my limit for the lies and smirking. It's not like we won't be hearing wall-to-wall spin for the next week. I'm looking forward to hearing some real analysis of it on Countdown tomorrow night.

174. If he DOES, it's still more reassuring proof that he's not a REAL TEXAN
which is something we native Texans never have too much of.

There are no moose in Texas - it's a sure sign of his questionable Yankee origins! But we can't really blame them for hiim either. It's the unholy alliance of genes from Poppy and Babs - :scared: And I really don't want to think any more about THAT.

But he sure ain't no kind of Texan!

Actually I don't think the species we have in Texas, the nine-banded, rolls up quite that efficiently - I think another kind does it better - but it sure makes itself an unappetizing and boring specimen for something like a cat.

starting to wake up and the major media are showing signs of responding to that. I can't bear to think that the way forward is just down into destruction and despair with that mad clique of criminals.

So I'll continue to work at hoping.

Wasn't this a great thread? We've managed to create something good. This is one to keep and savor. What a fine, generous idea Sparky had, and how wonderfully everyone responded.

And I was talking about tears to my own eyes, so obviously it was MORE about being too sensitive to other people's feelings, and NOT about caring about whether my own natural emissions might affect some hypothetical people downwind.

26. Good kittie.
One time, Binky woke me up, "meYAH-meYAH!" It was a hot summer night, and I had left the windows opened. That morning, Oreo kept banging on the screen until the bottom popped out, and she escaped. Roo followed her, but was confused, and just hid by the bushes. I ran outside and chased after Oreo for about 5 minutes before I got her back in the house. (this was when I was just their temporary nanny, and I was in a panic!) The Binky alarm saved the day. :)

113. Doing the Google image searches, I was amazed at all the Primal Male
symbolism arranged around Moose Antlers. I never realized before and knew I was onto something deep and Jungian. Archetype city!

And they have to put that stuff SOMEWHERE, now don't they? WE don't want to have to look at it!

So I figure they take advantage of the tribal secrecy of the men's room. We have bodice-ripper romances, they have moose antlers. They just don't want to ADMIT it!

That'd be a lot more interesting than the moose antlers. In fact, I'm considering doing a painting involving that image. Would be fun.

Conundrum: The Horned God doesn't wear moose antlers. Hmmm...

187. I've had the image in my head for some time. It's a night scene and
there is some firelight and moonlight. (Would be very tricky challenge with watercolors - but would like to try it with that medium first, it's my favorite and incomparable when it really works.) He is seen from the back, only a side of him, in the forest. Mysterious and eerie, yet he looks like he's always been there and is perfectly at home.

So many things I would llike to paint.

18. My contribution to the anticipated need for an upper after the double-
whammy of a blivet** press conference (not that he EVER confers except with his earpiece) and a night of no Keef was to write an illustrated in-between scene in the latest Gull Bay epic,

Keef Crosses The River

And did I say it's ILLUSTRATED??? Please go take a look and give me your literary criticism as long as it's favorable...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=315&topic_id=2305&mesg_id=3295

It buids on two sentences from Botany's recent efforts, which I thought had a lot of visual image possibility.

And I feel like you - I want to wake up and find his (p)residency has just been an especially vicious dream. I didn't watch him this time. I couldn't take it any more. I kept flashing back to him from the last time I watched and I decided then: never again. He is poison, even just to look at or hear.

I imagine you're sensibly on the way to bed by now, but wherever you are, I hope you have a good night and healing sleep in spite of the blivet**.

In fact, may that be so for all of us. I'm going to give it a try now.

107. Call me a cab! OK, you're a cab!
I can help you bartend, too. I used to bartend for the now defunct Darryl's and the never defunct Bennigan's in Nashville.

My specialties: Beam Me Up Scotty shooters (layered: Kahlua on the bottom, Bailey's in the middle, and Creme de Banana on top) and Stiletto's - Tall glass, full shot Rum, half shot Amaretto, half shot Creme de Banana, fill with Pineapple juice, splash of OJ (to cut the sweetness). WARNING! Stiletto's don't taste strong, just refreshing - which means they will sneak up on you, REAL FAST!

People also seem to like my version of Top Shelf Margaritas: full shot 1800, half shot Cointreau, half shot Grand Marnieau, Rose's Lime. NO Sweet and Sour (S'n'S just waters it down)!

193. Great bar Sparky
A quick hit and run. Just got home from the dungeons and was so happy to be there tonight. No tv, No radio and we threatened to post pics of anyone that tried to stream blivet* online on the IDIOT wall of SHAME. So I got to not even hear it speak. (Hey if KO wasn't going to be on and evil incarnate was, the night I worked in the dungeons was the time to do it.)
The hub got smart and turned of his radio, he gets so mad listening to blivet* that he gets an uncontrolable urge to run over vehicles with W04 stickers. No good anytime but specially not good when you are in an tractor trailer. Sides it would leave a mess of WI butter all over the place.
Time to get the Giz fed and medicated. Then bed. In KO withdrawal so might have to lay in bed and watch a tape.
Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow and a goodnight tonight. Hopefully Keith will be full of snark and lay it on the blivet* tomorrow night.
Forgive any typos and read through them. Its late.

205. I actually watched some of The Front :)
Couldn't do it. Kept screaming at the TV and my friend eventually took the remote and removed the offensive substance.

207. What offended you - McCarthyism's eerie resemblance to Bushism?

211. Summary: * says: "I am not the comeback kid. Can't we all get along?"
Methinks the zip has gone off the ol' message.

213. I could tell from the hair
that something was wrong. Then there was the rest of it.

I learned all I needed to know in the one minute I watched, when * very petulantly noticed the reporter was going to ask -- horrors! -- a follow-up question. We all know how * hates follow-up questions. It might be something the voice in his ear wasn't prepared for.

219. Hi Pats, if you're still up. I couldn't bear to watch it (I don't think of
the blivet** as a man) either. And just at the right moment, there was Sparky with the door open and the drinks lined up. It was such a welcome sight!

Now get some rest and wake up refreshed tomorrow. And as a special treat, check out new entries in the Gull Bay thread. Actually re-reading THIS thread is a treat, too. It was a good night in spite of everything outside our cozy place.

Good night! :hi:

222. Totally agree with all of it, Hope
I'm saving Gull Bay for tomorrow at work when I'm gonna need it most.

No way was I ever going to survive sitting through it without throwing something at the TV. I think that's part of the reason my friend took the remote away: he just got a new one. :)

221. I'm posting this because it makes me happy.
I wouldn't even try and hang it on the wall in case it messed up this wonderful place you've all been preparing so diligently. I mean, it's not clearing brush or anything, but y'all clearly put in lots of "hard work".

For you KOEB/ASTB guys: :loveya: and :yourock:

224. Wonderful, Patsy! And to go with this, here's a message for the blivet""

That came up in the previous night's thread - the blivet** is the dead parrot, he's not just pining for the fjords.

People are starting to wake up.

it's almost as though he's giving the place his blessing.

230. Isn't it great?
I think Sparky,Bot,Bleev and CW's pics should be put up behind the bar though. The ASTB's have have been not only able to contend with all the estrogen of the EDV's but become important co-conspirators. (Having seen how many testosterone prone humans have been scared off.)

I decided to wait for the bike course until summer. Something to do with cold, rain and being soaking wet. Told them I would come back later. Ended up working Saturday and then doing home stuff the rest of the weekend. Though will have the SO legal on a bike for the first time since I have known him. (And he didn't get a perfect score and actually learned something) Also was hard to concentrate worrying about a little ferret home alone. He is still here and doing ok though worried me all weekend. I have spent extra time just holding and babying him. All the ferrets are needing extra attention. They know something is wrong with the Giz. Is cute to watch them baby him. the cats have also become caring and concerned, instead of just hiding their feet from him.

Keeping you and Clark in thoughts and prayers (Roo too). Hope you had the strength you needed to get through the last few days and the wisdom to cry when you needed too.

Hopefully will be here for Monday's show and KO will have his snark on.

231. Hi, CC ...
Edited on Mon May-02-05 03:56 AM by WhirlyGirl
. . . Your decision about the motorcycle course was probably the best one, since your attention was divided. Summer will be more fun on a bike, anyway.

Glad to hear that Giz is still hanging in, and that the others are babying him. I didn't know ferrets were so responsive to other ferrets' distress.

Friday night, an elderly relative of my husband's called. I thought she was calling with condolences about Ashley but it turned she knew nothing of that -- she was calling to let him know that one of his cousins had died of a sudden heart attack.

The funeral for Ashley was very tiring. His daughter was still having a rough time. The memorial service at the church was awfully long, and the wind was blowing quite stiffly at the cemetary; I was thankful to have had a thermal cami on under my blouse, as well as the blazer over it.

I teared up a bit when the soldiers came forward to pay their respects at the graveside while taps was played, and then removed the flag from the casket and folded it with great precision and presented it to my sister-in-law, softly praising Ash's service to his country to her. That ritual gets me every time, it's so darn pretty the way they do it.

Hope you can be with us for the early show tomorrow, but if not I'll be here as always for the re-air, and I'll catch you then. Nite nite, CC. Sweet ferret or KO dreams, which ever one makes you happiest!
