Let's hear some suggestions for PERMANENT KOEB GROUP THREADS
We already have the start of an ARCHIVED SHOW & KOEB LIVEBLOG THREAD for links, exceprts and comments for the KOEB liveblogs here, the KO show transcripts, the KO blog (on the rare occasions that there is one):
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=315&topic_id=264#309

We should start addtional threads that are for collecting things we enjoy or want to refer to rather than for discussion. Let's brainstorm on which ones we want, how many, and what's to go into each. Some suggestions to throw into the pot for starters:

1. KOEB Hall of Fame, Museum and Theme Park Thread
This would capture classic KOEB moments for the Hall of Fame -- "old" KOEBers know which ones they are, and new KOEBers can catch up. Personally, I think some of Botany's poetry rates. So does the advice to the Stephanie love-lorn given to Botany by the wise & insightful KOEB EDVs. Then there is the original wooly bear caterpillar eyebrows and bodice-ripping posts, and so many others. Who could forget The Tie saga? The poll, the discussions, the night Keef wore it? The introduction of our official Toast? Since it's a Museum & Theme Park as well, This is where to put Keith-Growing-Up-To-What-He-Is-Now information, and links to KOEB merchandise like the mugs and future ones (like Bleever's last night suggestion of black T shirts with white block letters saying Sparky's new sig line: "KOEB Security/Bartender")

2. KOEB Classic Pictures Thread: Wonderful things we want to see again and again. Not only pictues of KO, but of ourselves, of Clark2008's son learning to salute from Wes Clark (who would know), pool pics (if we can get away with it)... You get the idea. And of course artwork by Bunny, and those others of us involved in graphic arts.

3. KOEB Resources and Good Links Thread:
These could be serious/political: ...or serious/nonpolitical: Sites for photos, valuable non-politcal information of all kinds, utility sites like TinyURL, photo hosting sites, nifty and useful sites of all kinds that KOEB members recommend for other KOEB members...
...or less than serious but still fun: Smilie info (helllo, Seito!), satirical web sites, sites with animations (like JibJab and the one for "Becoming Republican)...

4. Highly recommended DU Threads: Threads from various DU Forums and Groups that KOEB members want other KOEB members to be aware of. Our own Greatest or Headsup or You Gotta See This links thread.

There can also be threads for special projects initiated by KOEB members. The limit is our imagination.

Let the Brainstorming Begin!

1. marvy!
I've been wanting to go to the archives and look for Crispini's first-ever :loveya: with Keith, because it was that particular obsession which captured our attention. Kind of a prequel to the KOEB.

What about a "meet the KOEBabes and TDH's (Testosterone-Driven-Hunks)" Short little bio on each person, their greatest moments, and favorite drink. Pictures optional, but encouraged. :)

We might want our own KOEBpedia, for our special lingo (Keef, snark, bodice-ripping, etc..).

I'm sure I'll think of other things later.
This should be fun!

2. My most m'able moments were KO's b'day, when I first posted, and TIE DAY!!
Arriving after the party on KO's birthday, I was welcomed by Sparky, and dubbed "the bunt cake."

On Tie Day (actually, Tie NIGHT), I experienced both the irrespressible enthusiasm which characterizes the KOEB, and the essential sweetness of Keith in choosing to wear The Tie.

I felt exceedingly happy for the first time in many a month -- merely as an observer -- and knew this was the kind of group I'd been looking for: close enough to have a common history and lore, but open enough to welcome and assimilate newcomers readily.

Our circle grows day by day, and the bonds of affection become stronger as it grows.
Here's to the man who inspired this enchanted circle -- :toast: -- and to the KOEB:
There's no group like us, anywhere! ~ TO THE TIE THAT BINDS!!! :toast:

5. Thank you, Hope!
We're proof that such positive affiliations are still possible!

9. They're more than possible and they're an important part of our best hope
for the future of the country and the world. I believe in them. They feel so much better than hate and fear, they can be spread. Kindness is just as contagious as hatred.

4. How about a KOEB glossary?
How many times have we had to explain what KOEB or EDV means? <snicker> We should include other commonly used DU abbreviations too, like NGU, eom, n/t... well, you get the picture.

It would be nice if we could get an FAQ thread pinned to the top of the group forum that explained (in a short synopsis) how we evolved and included an "all are welcome to join in, regardless of estrogen levels" type comment.

6. Definitely! We can set one up as a separate thread now
to collect the words that need to be included and maybe figure out when and by whom they were introduced. The story. For example, I introduced "blivet**" as an ideal nickname for Bush the Second. I could put in an entry giving the word, the meaning, and a link to the thread where I proposed it, and explain why I chose it.

I think Botany introduced EDVs, and there are many others.

We may need some discussions on where some things came from. So we can gather this up in a Glossary Thread and then, if the first thread becomes too long to read it easily, condense in a reposted Glossary Thread later on.

7. A Snarkateria!
It already exists - that's the "test-kitchen" for drinks, gluten-free diets, and anything else we think up.

"I'm going to the snarkateria to get a burger - wanna join me?"

8. Celic is sort of *hiding* in the Snarkatini thread, tho...
... and "test kitchen" is going the opposite direction than the one I started -- toward tried-and-true basic knowledge and guidance about celiac.

Snarkatini started out as a cocktail thread, and contained our own "experimental" concoctions. I broke out a separate thread with "GLUTEN-FREE" right in the subject line, so visitors could easily identify it.

Guess there's no reason why info couldn't be posted under both -- and be cross-posted w/ a note ("For more celiac meal suggestions, see Snarkatini Test Kitchen").

Opinions?

10. My opinion is....
we're just having fun here, no need to fret and worry about organization terribly much (unless you want to). Me, I save all of my organizational skills for my precinct and local Democratic Party, with what's left-over :P going to work.

Hope, are you a precinct chair? 'Cause, just based on your organizational prowess, I think you should become one. :P

11. "we're just having fun here"
Maybe the question, then, is whether our new group area is the right place for what I proposed we do -- namely, convey info about celiac.

I mean, do you think that goal is too heavy for the KO "room"?

It's a big tent.

Edited to add: are YOU a precinct chair? You show a likeminded bent towards organization! You should think about it! :7

13. LOL! Yes, I'm...
a veteran of a lot of campaigns -- usually as volunteer coordinator.

I like finding jobs for the folks who call up or come in, all revved up and ready to change the world! :-)

17. Nope, Crispini, not directly involved in politics but it's a flattering
question! At present I have some medical conditions that sap energy signficantly and unpredictably, so I am reluctant to take on more volunteer work than I am already involved in. I always have loads of ideas, but that's not enough, and I can't count on being able to carry through. I'm hoping for improvement, so we'll see.

15. I think we need a thread with stories we want to send to KO to get him to
cover them. Perhaps also topical guest suggestions to accompany current news stories. He has already said he doesn't like doing fluff pieces. Let's feed him some important ones he may not be aware of, or may be constrained from reporting unless the network higher ups can see his fans have an interest in getting these stories covered. I was upset when the story about Delay's new ethics problems (more every day it seems) and his trip to the hospital with heart palpitations (he has a heart?) didn't make the cut in tonight's Countdown. We need the news 'Olberman style!!!!!!

16. Oh, I really like that idea! We can identify stories and then get some
supporting data sites to bolster its credibility. He and his staff don't have time to do this prelim screen on all the potential stories out there, but we can home in on some important ones -- we see them often at DU first -- and gather some of the pieces before notifying them.

There surely will be other uses for these news story evidence gatherings too.
