8. If you're talking about the main ferry -
it goes from Ludington, MI to Manitowoc, WI. It's about a 4 hour trip, and is very popular... you'll need reservations, especially during the tourist season.

Manitowoc is about 30 miles south of here (:bounce:), and Sturgeon Bay is about 20 miles north of here. The main camping spot is Peninsula State Park, on the bay side of the county.

Perhaps some of our lurkers have more info on the ferry, or the park and camping rates. Otherwise, google "Door County" and you should get a ton of information.

If you're headed this way, we simply must meet!

17. No, the word is "Dork."
At least, according to the caption-folks. :eyes:

I'm still reading book #4 (Goblet of Fire). I have this annoying tendency to wait for a paperback (read: cheaper) version, and my cheapness is far stronger than my need to be "in the know."

I do try to read the books before I see the movies. Sometimes, I have to wait for the premium movie channels, but that, too, is preferable to a theatre full of screaming, snively children.

I also prefer matinees, when school is in session, for the same reasons, including the cheaper ticket.

27. ooh, I envy you
Goblet of Fire was my favorite. Actually, I hadn't read any of them until GoF first came out in paperback, then I read them all at once. I was quite excited when #5 came out. For me, it was a bit of a let-down after #4 but that may have been because they hyped it so much. I haven't really spent any time anticipating this one and don't really have any time to read it right now.

For those of you who do read it right away: if you want to talk about it in the clubhouse, could you please set up a SPOILER thread or some such, so the rest of us can (snort) maintain our virginity until we get around to reading #6?

31. well, it's the only kind we've got left
so we'd better protect it. ;-) Me, I just hate knowing the ending to a book before I get there, unlike a friend of mine who would deliberately read the end of a book before she read the rest of the book, then decide if she wanted to read the book. Used to drive me batshit. If any new books came out that we were both interested in, I had to be sure to read the damned thing first, because she could not refrain from telling me "just one thing" about the book. :grr:

33. I hate that passive-aggressive shit.
People who insist on spoiling life for others.

I'll never, never, ever forgive Kurk Anderson for ruining "The Empire Strikes Back" for me and about a dozen other kids in high school. He said, "I think the whole thing's bullshit. Who would ever believe that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father?" This was about one week after the movie was released. :grr:

I was kinda sweet on him, but he lost a LOT of respect from me that day.

59. I read the first four all in a row when #4 came out
I had a friend who had read them and he told me they were great. I finally broke down when #4 came out and read 1, 2, 3 and 4 all in a row. Then, of course, I read 5 two summers ago. Now I'm looking forward to reading this one for the rest of the summer -- I have so little time to read, it will take me that long to finish it.

Promise not to talk about it without a spoiler warning!

I'm off to pick up my reserved copy at Barnes & Noble. Then off to Sephora to pick up my Jonathan Products Dirt -- they were out of it last week and are holding some for me. Then, it's Harry Potter for most of the rest of the weekend. It's raining this morning -- finally! -- and hope it keeps raining. Perfect for staying indoors and reading.

...Yes it's been quite a summer,
limo-drivers and west bound trains.
And now you're off on vacation,
somethin' you tried to explain.
And darlin' I love your snark that's
the reason I watch you each night.

Come Monday It'll be all right,
Come Monday I'll be watching you tight.
You spent four lonely days in a brown Detroit haze
and I just want you back on my show.

A butchered version of Buffet's Come Monday in honor of Keith's coming back finally on Monday.
