I'm so so. My mom's not doing so great. I think things are farther along than I has thought and we're not finding much out from the doctor -- I think my dad isn't asking the right questions and I never see the doc.

I'm just never there when the doctor is. My dad has a call in now to the chief of oncology. I want to find out who her doctor is and to ask him some questions. I don't think my father knows the questions to ask. I didn't know until he told me this morning that there were cancer cells in several organs -- liver, kidney, spleen... They still don't know the origin and the actual type of cancer -- they're waiting for results from some smears, I think.

I wasn't not here because of my mom, actually. I was out with Nancy and some other people after the polls closed. I was going to see my mother after work, but she was too out of it. They had supposedly put a stent in yesterday afternoon to help get rid of the bile that's backed up, but they didn't tell her until about 3 this afternoon that they hadn't been able to do it because there was a blood clot in the way and they were afraid they'd dislodge it. They're going to try again tomorrow and if they can't do it, they'll have to do some kind of a bypass surgery to get around it. It's so frustrating. They don't seem to tell my dad anything unless he asks questions and I don't think he's asking much.

when we found out what was wrong with him. There was one Doctor who just flat out told me the bad news over the phone at the Nurses' Desk. I don't remember his name because I didn't like him at all.

My dad called the chief of oncology a little while ago and got the name of her doctor. He found out the cancer started in either the liver or the pancreas and that it's metastacized, which I realized this morning. I still don't understand how it's treatable if it's spread so much already. I just wish they could start treament, but they have to get her stabilized first and it's taking a long time.

black stool, then they found a cancerous tumor (which was removed) but it had spread to his liver. They said it was at stage four. The Doctor on the phone told me he had maybe six months. This all started in September 8th right after my Brother's birthday 2003. He died April 1, 2004.

From what I learned today, I'm sure my mother is at least stage three, but no one has said anything specific. No one has given us a timeframe or even a treatment plan yet. They can't do anything until they get the bile drained and get things flowing again with the stent. I just hate that it's metastacized already and she's been in the hospital for two weeks with no treatment for the cancer itself. I keep wondering how much more it's spreading while she's not getting any help for it.
