Shannon activists' trial begins today
The trial of five anti-war activists who allegedly 'disarmed' a US navy plane at Shannon Airport in February 2003 gets underway today in Dublin's Circuit Criminal Court.

Deirdre Clancy, Karen Fallon, Damien Moran, Nuin Dunlop and Kieran O'Reilly, are charged with causing €2.5m worth of criminal damage to the plane.

If convicted, the defendants could face up to ten years imprisonment.
Anti-war activists are due to stage a peace walk, lead by US Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, from O'Connell Street to the Four Courts this morning.
