1/25/2008 - It's Friday!
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 09:49 AM by supernova
Happy Friday everybody. :D

I'm really pleased today.

I did my mile and a quarter this morning but before I did that, I measured my waist. Since October when I started getting serious (yet again!) about my health and nutrition, I have lost 7 lbs and 5 inches off my waist!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

If you follow Drs Mehmet Oz's and Michael Roizen's http://www.realage.com/homepage.aspx">RealAge thinking, they focus on waist:hip ratio as an indicator of health and risk for heart disease and other chronic conditions. That translates roughly to a waist measurement that is :

35" or below for men
32" or below for women

I'm about midway to that goal, but I think if I keep this up, I'll make it! B-)

How are you doing? Is it going well or is it difficult?

1. AWESOME!!
:applause:

Me? I haven't even wanted to step on the scale since I started this campaign three weeks ago. I can tell I'm dropping inches and weight, but I don't want to be too tied into the scale. I'm gonna give it another week or so before I take a look. :D

I had a fantastic workout today....my fifth day in a row, which makes it an unusual week for me. I usually go 3x/wk.

I'm actually starting to think I'm getting addicted to the endorphines that are released when I'm sweating my ass off on the stairmaster for 40 min.

I guess that's a good thing. Maybe not. Hmmm...I'm goin' with it, for now. :D

3. I am looking forward to the day when I am hooked on endorphines!
I am hooked on:
1. an additional 30-45 minutes of sleep;
2. two extra spoonfuls of treat.

I was up at 5am this morning & had a great workout. It is now 8:30 pm & I'm ready for bed. But then, I love sleep, so who cares? :D

:hi:

2. Girl, you are TOTAL inspiration!!
:yourock:

Oh . . . that waist/hip ratio . . . Marilyn! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waist-hip_ratio
I seem to have more issue with the waist part than the hip part. ~sigh - I love my treats!

32" or below for women: Supernova, you can do it! You can! And I am trying to, also!!

I have done better with my new full time workout schedule than I thought I would. I have indulged & purchased a full spectrum 'sunrise lamp.' http://www.fullspectrumsolutions.com/lt_dawn_simulators_62_ctg.htm It should arrive next week. I will report back on the effects of a 'natural sunrise.' I hope early morning workouts during the dark months will not be such a struggle for me, for having the lamp.

On another note, I know many of you have read my rave reviews of my weighted belt.

The past two days, however, I applied it's use in a different way, not just walking. I used it for my step workout. My poor old knees just can't deal with the additional 2" increment in step, so I kept my step at 4" & wore the weighted belt with 10# & . . . oh my! What a wonderful workout, without the strain of the extra 2" on my knees!

Rock on, fellow work out enthusiast's!

4. Let me know

how you like the dawn simulator. I was thinking of getting one myself. My bedroom is on the west side of the house (my kitchen faces east, so no morning sun on the bedroom) and the radio alone is no longer quite doing it for me. I wake up but I notice it's already been on for typically 20 minutes or so before I notice. :silly:

Thanks for the encouragement!

I like your weight idea.

edit: Have you seen this lamp model?

5. I played raquet ball for 2 hours
then I tried to weight train but all my lifts were down so significantly I could tell I was just too tired and it wasn't worth my time. Normally shoulder press with 60lb dum bells, was down to the 50's and 45's just to get my 10 reps...

I did a full day of skiing on saturday, I'm pretty sore right now. I could tell all my leg training and cardio has made a huge difference in the power I can put on those edges. I just sailed through the ice on those double blacks perfect carving all the way down. I'm still sloppy on the moguls, but my improved agility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance made a huge difference.

Jumps... well... the terrain park has never been my forte... I had two nice yard sales on some pretty massive jumps and called it a day for those. Have a nice big bruise on my ass from it.

Might go for a light jog and finish up where I left off on friday for weights and then do legs tommorow.

6. That's impressive!
:D

2 hours of handball. :whew!:

Where do you go skiing? I'm thinking I might like to get into it. It is one winter activity I think I'd enjoy.
