CMS advice, please?

I've spent the past two days Googling & demoing various CMS options (free or nearly-so) for a small community news site.

I've found several that are *almost* okay, but there always seems to be a showstopper somewhere; sometimes due to my limitations, and sometimes due to the application's.

We need to be able to add news, images, & classifieds to start off with. Can anyone suggest one that's

1) easy to install

2) cheap (vastly prefer free; can go up to around $250 or so)

3) easy to configure (I am fairly comfy with HTML & CSS, but I dunno about template editing)

4) cheap

5) easy enough for a really smart person who's almost completely computer-illiterate to add content to the site with it?

I would prefer to have some flexibility regarding layout, etc., but unfortunately, I just don't have time for a steep learning curve right now, and it needs to get started up fairly soon.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

3. I'd check out Wordpress or Joomla!
Wordpress is the easiest and very good, but Joomla is VERY well supported and has tons of features.

4. I use bricolage-cms
on a Debian based system. It performs well and is free.
