3D collage artist here
I just had a joint show last month with a friend of mine, also a collage artist. We actually created 3D "exquisite corpse" pieces and it was so much fun. We sold 9 out of 21 pieces, which was amazing to me.

Some of my artistic inspirations are Joseph Cornell (no surprise there), H.C. Westerman, Rene Magritte (who was also a graphic artist, same as me), Hieronymous Bosch and Gustave Moreau, among many others.

I also love, love, LOVE Lane Smith, Georg Hallensleben, J. Otto Siebold, Mark Betcher, Mark Ryden, Yoshitomo Nara and Gary Baseman..

1. Hello!
Do you have a web site of some of your works. I'd love to see them. Bosch and Magritte are among my favorites, too.

Congratulations on your sales!

Okay - so I had to go and research Exquisite Corpse. Am I on the right track with this site?

Exquisite Corpse is a game the surrealists used to play and it's quite enjoyable. When you do it visually, like the link you had, you fold the paper into three and one person draws on the top third, extending lines just slightly into the second third. Then the next person, not looking at the part already drawn, draws the middle third and passes it to the next person for completion. The finished drawing is then opened to reveal how the three sections work together. The results can be amazing.

You can also do it with words, and it's an excellent way to get your creative juices flowing. You fold the paper into thirds and the top section should have a phrase beginning with "If..." The second section should have a phrase beginning with "when..." followed by the third section containing a phrase beginning with "then..." Same rules, the phrases are written independently by three different people, not looking at the other sections. Then the paper gets unfolded to reveal the full sentence that will look something like this:

"IF I were to hurl my dishes out the window (written by player one) WHEN you finally decide to scrap the world tour (written by player two) THEN hitch up your skirts and get stepping missy, cause I'm fixin' to wallop you (written by player three)."

The more you play it, the more absurd and creative and hilareous the sentences or images become. It's really fun to play with a large group of people, where everyone gets a piece of paper to start.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. Sadly enough, I don't have a website of my work just now (really stupid considering I'm a graphic designer by day- although I work in print). I hope to soon.

4. It's coming back to me
I used to belong to a Yahoo group for collage. There was an invitation to members to participate in "cadavre exquis". Btw, I didn't remember the French - I Googled for it! :D It sounds like fun.

My favorite word play is to run the written word through a Burroughs type cut-up scrambler.

I hope you can show us some of your collages. I've heard some people here at DU use services like Photo Bucket to post pics. Just a thought.

3. Sorry about the separate thread
I thought I was replying to the post about artists checking in, but somehow it ended up as a separate thread. I'm not a diva or anything. ;)
