I've lived in Texas all of my 50 so odd years, but I've never been to South Padre Island. This year, as another of our in-state vacations, we took the trip.

sunrise on the Gulf side, could it get any better?

Yes. View from the hotel.

There was dolphin watching:

Little boys working hard:

Little girls tasting life

teaching our son to drive standard shift.

people getting sunburned

and sunset over the Laguna Madre......Life is Grand.

beautiful. I love the first one of the sunrise and the ones of the kids enjoying life on the sand are just precious.
The one of the guy's back just makes me want to say ouch ! Too many bad sunburns in my past ! lol

Funny, I grew up in Texas and all the years I lived there I never went to South Padre Island either. I guess we
mainly went to Galveston for summer vacations.

2. I grew up on the other end of the Gulf, in Port Arthur. Sabine Pass was my beach :(

BTW...the water is a little cleaner, but it's a typical Texas windy beach.

5. I grew
up in the Dallas area so we really had to travel some to get to the beaches.
I always loved Galveston when I was little, but it's changed a lot since then.
The water there at Padre looks beautiful.
Now that I'm in NC I need to start exploring the beaches here, but it just seems like there is never enough time !

4. oh, ahhhh, oh
now that is a vacation... the water is so inviting! love the "teaching our son to drive standard shift" and you are so smart to do that in open space... I took my son on a wooded back road with deep ditches... oh, nooo... we waited for a long time for someone in a truck (with a rope) to pass by
