1. OMG - Alfredo! I have to go see what that camera is you bought.
I am seeing what your eye and exquisite equipment can combine to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am of a mind (ok so flame me, whoever....) that the eye and the placement/presentation trump the subject matter and equipment when it comes to presenting visuals and telling what you are experiencing in a photograph.
You have it all.

Don't be surprised if I come back later and actually talk about your images. Now I have to go letter a truck.

4. I bought an Olympus EPl1. I got it for $399.

I shoot in A (aperture priority). For Macro, I use Macro Nature setting. I boosted the levels to bring out the colors and detail on the rusty wall images. I boosted the DR to pick up the detail on the vent. A couple years ago I photographed the same wall.

The first image in this thread is still my favorite.

6. I'm new at all this. DR? Also.....
Edited on Sat May-21-11 02:58 PM by Bonhomme Richard
when you say you boosted the levels was that on the camera or during processing? Probably dumb questions.
Sorry, but I am interested in understanding what you all know. I feel like a sponge at this point. Just want to absorb everything.

8. I used them in post processing.
Levels and curves are two very helpful tools. They should be used sparingly, unless there is a look you are going for.

Trust you camera to get it right. All changes are to suit your tastes.

I still haven't gotten used to working with the files from this camera.

14. Just to let you know, I love my new camera.
I'm still adjusting to a new reality, but I can see it will be a good thing.

Btw, there are going to be some new toys coming this summer. The big players in the mirror-less marked are introducing new cameras. That means discounts on existing models.

5. These are all great!
I especially love the spark of life in the second one -- nice juxtaposition. The Dem HQ is priceless (my RW fundy brother would love it too but for different reasons!) -- that one made me laugh out loud! The third one is a nice composition but for some reason it makes my blood run cold -- it gives me a creepy feeling (all signs of a great work!). Really nice job Alfredo!

9. That's the courthouse. Lawyers lurk there, so it is understandable if
You feel a chill while viewing that image.

7. I really like those, especially the first two
(because I prefer color). They remind me of some of the beautiful dilapidation that we saw in Nome.

11. Thanks. My early years was shaped by black and white images.
Some of those images were moving images. Their effect was quite profound.

13. The back of buildings are always more interesting than the fronts.
It's the public face vs private face.

It is supposed to rain the next few days. Hopefully I will have time to go through the hundreds of images from the past few days.

Monday my filters and M42 adaptor should arrive. GRIN.
