1. I can't figure out how you got this! I see the movement of course. I don't
want to guess and sound really dopey. So please, when you're ready, tell me how!
On this photo, eerie and stark and full of wonder, I would lose all the green stuff and the lines on the bottom.

2. The crop is debatable... I like the lines
but to do it is easy enough. Called "dragging the shutter" in other words, using flash to freeze the flower in one place, whilst leaving the shutter open long enough to register some movement. You can really only pull it off when the natural light and the flash light are kind of the same level, ie sunset, dawn, dusk, night sometimes, storms.

3. i understand it but I doubt I could pull it off. I am in awe of the photo especially
the blue background, even more so than the movement in the tulips. Thank you for telling me.

5. I personally like your crop, WJMS
The leaves give a sense of place and some perspective.

6. What a beautiful and fascinating shot.
I read your explanation to Mira as to how you accomplished such a mysterious photo, and I too am not sure if I could pull it off. But . . . I'm always experimenting (often times not successful), but I'm always up for a challenge. :-)

7. In my head I can count 4
other photos of yours I am as crazy about as the tulips.
I am now going to crop this the way I like it best and use it as my desk top. I hope you don't mind.
:)

9. You people never cease to amaze me.
I just start to get a handle on one thing and then something like this shot comes along. Great shot and thanks for describing the technique.

Thanks for sharing !!!

On edit - here is a shot I got by complete fluke - the shutter speed was too slow, but not slow enough for everything to be a blur.

13. This is wonderful!
It looks to me as though the tulips are up against a glass...

Very otherworldly!

I'm not sure yet how you did it, but it really adds drama to what would otherwise be a picture of a few flowers.
I like it. A lot.

On edit: I read how you did it. I assume it was a first curtain flash followed by slight movement. Very imaginative.
