I saw this flash of red
from the corner of my eye. Turned and looked and there was this bird emptying out the bird feeder. Slowly got up, walked over to grab the camera and even more slowly walk toward the window. (That really, really needs cleaned again already.)

Digging through for the good stuff.

Not the good stuff.

Did something move in there?

Maybe not. Besides I'm hungry.

Uh oh there is something there.

The Woodpecker took off. He/she did come back later but I let it eat. I think it is a red-bellied even if her belly was more yellowish.

After the woodpecker left one of my two regular Nuthatches showed up. They are not as shy as they used to be and stay at the feeder for a bit.

1. CC - please forever remember - I LOVE YOU
if ever I grow up
I want to be like you.

I've had a rough day with a nasty cold and not much accomplished.
And you turned it around,
The visuals / the tour / the color / the precision
and all leading to the final shot that is beyond words,

Thank you.
Please post more often, you inspire me.

4. Glad I could brighten
your day. I am almost over my cold from hell so know too well how you feel. As to posting more often, can try but it really all depends on if I have taken any pictures. I have spent 2 years getting the nuthatch used to me so now I can catch it once in every few hundred tries. The woodpecker was all luck. As pretty and it was it did empty the feeder looking for what every it was it wanted out of there. The juncos, cardinals and doves are happy but the finches, chickadees, nuthatches and titmouse are not pleased at all.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

2. What little sweethearts!
The nuthatch with the seed is just truly wonderful.

I definitely need to get a bird feeder this year!

5. You should as much
as you like birds. It is worth it for the entertainment value if nothing else. They do get used to you. The little chickadees have gotten so brazen that they will follow me around the yard chiding me if the feeder is empty. Plus I have birds singing year round out there. The neighbor across the street's bf complains that my yard is louder at daybreak than the woods behind them.

6. When I first saw one
and did not know what it was it would not stay long enough to get a good look and definitely not long enough to get a photo. Now she lets me get with in a foot of the window if I go slowly. She/he still doesn't like the camera though so it was a lucky shot. I think the waiting for the woodpecker to leave gave her enough bravery to try snatching a seed while the camera was there. Thankfully the camera can shoot in burst.
