Thanks be to the Japanese maples
And for the bright sunshine yesterday. Finally there's a bit of decent autumn color in the neighborhood. There are no Japanese maples in the park, however.

There are a few decent yellow leaved trees

Here was my rather mediocre attempt at the "puddle" picture, which suffers for several reasons--I only had my pocket camera with me and it doesn't have a big zoom on it, and there were leaves at the bottom of the puddle that it wanted to focus on (plus it interfered with the reflection). Oh, yeah, the reflecting tree had green leaves on it still! But I love the reflection of blue, blue sky, so I am posting despite all this.

1. Nice
Beautiful collection of colors in the first one, and I like the mailboxes marching down the street.

I like how you have two different perspectives, viewing the light on the leaves from different angles on the second and third photo. Those are some intense colors, and the shallow DOF sets them off well against the background.

The fourth is both intriguing, and slightly annoying. I really like the tree, the fence and the colors, but having the dog staring out of the frame (even having a bit of snout clipped off) distracts me from the photo somewhat, wondering what (s)he was looking at. So, while the dog is cute, I probably would have changed the angle slightly or cropped a bit.

The fifth one is great. You're right about the blue. Me, I like the tree too though. It's interesting how some of the leaves in the water are deep enough for the tree and sky to be reflected - it almost makes them look like the leaves are transparent and letting the view come in from the background.

2. thanks--the dog is annoying for sure
I just didn't go to the trouble of editing it. He also kept me from trespassing to get a better picture.

I like that street because it looks like a country lane, though definitely city. I took these pictures very late in the afternoon, and just discovered what a huge difference that makes with the reds. I just went on this same street and the maples looked brown!! Yet when I took them yesterday they were the color of fire.

I really like sweeping landscapes for fall pictures, but we just don't have the raw material for that here this year. Possibly I could get up at sunup and go to the park and get a decent one then, with a lake. But probably will go with ginkgo or Japanese maple--the cultivated trees are the best we have. Dogwood leaves are mostly gone.

3. Reflection
I really like the reflection shot. The green and the blue in the reflection provides a great contrast to the leaves. The layering of the different elements above, on, and under the water adds an interesting element to it as well.

4. Well naturally
I got the idea of taking pictures of puddles from you. It's fun. I love puzzling over photos, and sort of scratching my head, and I really, really like the one you submitted. I like mine okay, but it just doesn't have much wow factor. Now, if it had reflected the Japanese maple, that would have been different.

But thanks for the idea. I'll never pass another puddle without taking into account what it reflects.
