Moose
I attempted (and failed) to scale Flattop Mountain, a great lookout peak above Anchorage, today, but I got enough good shots to make a Smugmug gallery, which I'm working on, not to mention quite a workout. To top off the great day, I came upon this guy just as I was driving out of the park. I didn't even need to leave my truck. :)

1. Nice! How long before he ends up in your yard
nibbling at the garden?

2. We have a nice fence to keep them out.
As long as the paperboy remembers to shut the gate when he leaves. Before we had the fence, it was a real problem.

3. We have that same issue, except here we call a moose a raccoon.
If a moose ever wandered into our yard, the barking coming from the house would be enough to result in 911 calls from half the street. Amazingly enough here, there have been coyote sightings out on the Spit a couple of miles from here, and it's not uncommon for deer to turn up in yards just a couple of miles away in another direction.

The most "excitement" we ever get is a skunk spraying one of the dogs in the back yard, a gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving.

4. Cute!
Ok, so moose aren't really cute. They're a bit creepy actually. One time, a co-worker of mine was followed for miles by a "stalker" moose while hiking in the back-country. Other than that, I envy you having such remarkable animals living near you.
