Afternoon in the west end
A part of the city I seldom visit.

Rusty the Rooster:

Flower shop (who needs spring?):

1. The rooster sizzles, and the flowers are so soothing and tranquil they are better than
meditation.
In the train station the first one seems like the better photo to me, with the beautiful one standing there and the shadow person just inhabiting the front.

But when it comes to telling a story, and now the beautiful one is in profile and there is involvement of the other people, then the second one is the sort of thing I expect to see in an expensive photo book chronicling humanity.
I think what I'm missing on the second one is a little more physical substance in the photo on the bottom edge, which the first one has.

Of course, I'm glad you threw in the self portrait ( it is, isn't it?).

4. Thank you. You've explained for me why I like the first
subway photo better too.

The self portrait wasn't intentional. I was trying to focus on the train as it pulled out, and through the viewfinder I thought I was seeing a person standing on the far platform behind the train. It wasn't until I got home and pulled it up on the computer that I realized who the person was.
:silly:

2. Hope the trek was as fun
As the photographs are good. I've always had an affinity for roosters (until our next door neighbors actually got one!), because one of our daughters is a double rooster (month of, year of, Chinese astrology). I love your version, especially when compared to the real life version we had next door until the hawk took it out. Great lighting on that rooster!

Wow, that woman is standing straight, right in line with the windows and doors on the train. That is just outstanding.

Looks like you had a pretty day, too, although cold enough for coats. Hopefully we have shed heavy coats for good around here. I'm pulling out the potted plants today.

5. Thanks, Celebration.
That afternoon light was very rich. The rooster sign was like a beacon from two blocks away, so I had to get close just to savor it. Probably wouldn't have been half as interesting without the rust, which was the icing on the cake.

Still pretty chilly here, but I think I can coincide my bizarre work schedule to allow for some time outside with the camera when it gets a little warmer Thursday and Friday. Good luck with your plants.

3. As soon as I saw the Subway station I knew it was Toronto
Very nice.
I lived there back in the 80's for several years and traipsed all over the city on the "red rocket"! I remember passing out on the Bloor line after a night of drinking at the El Mocambo and being woken up by the conductor telling me they were shutting down and I had to get off.
$20 cab fare home! x(

Thanks for the trip back in time!

6. Yes, for anyone who knows the city
these stations scream "Trawna".

Don't know if you saw some pix I posted of the renovated Museum station here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=280x52361

Quite a change.
