A technical question
Does anyone know what caused the flowers in this picture to turn to mush? Picture was taken in shade after the sun went down. jpg at fine setting. Nikon D300, exposed one stop under. Same thing happened no matter what exposure I used.
How can this be avoided? I've not had anything like this happen before. I assume it's something to do with the sensor getting overloaded.

Thanks in advance.

2. Right.
Of course. So obvious I missed it. Set the camera to vivid for some shots. Back to Raw's for me.
Thank you.

5. That would do it.
A quick look at the RGB values in the flowers shows that the red channel is maxed out most of the time.
