Has anyone played with adding pictures to Google Earth?

I am considering a summer project. I was thinking the other day as I was out riding the backroads. Here in my county there seems to be near as many churches as there are houses.

I thought it would be neat to take a picture of each and packaging it somehow for Google Earth. This would give me something to do that helps me work on my photography skills and it would also be like a fun treasure hunt.

I don't want 1000 separate pics. It would be cool to create a collection of sorts that could be downloaded in KML or something.

Has anyone dabbled in this?

1. I've added individual photos to GE

But that was just through their simple Panoramio thing. Not anything like you have envisioned. Probably simplest to popup a link to your own photo gallery or slideshow web site.
