Sony made some major product announcements at PMA, and have essentially revamped their line of sub-$1,000 DSLRs. The A100 has been dropped, and replaced with a series of three new cameras (A200, A300, and A350), two of which feature LiveView, but which also drop the depth-of-field preview feature that I, at least, find essential. At this point, the only Sony DSLR with that feature is the $1,300 (body only) A700, which is a great camera, but far more than I can afford.
As of a couple of days ago, reports began showing up on DPReview.com's Sony forum that Circuit City, in light of the new model announcements, was clearing out its remaining A100s for $400 or less. I made the rounds of local CC stores -- most were either out of stock entirely or selling their remaining cameras for full list. However, I did find a couple of branches that were offering the closeout prices, and wound up getting an "open box" special at the Olympia store for $325. This is simply an amazing price for a camera as good as the A100, and I would encourage anyone looking at the Sony mount to check out their local Circuit City for what could be one of the best values they're going to find anywhere.
