Which of my macros/close ups do you like best?
I have not done a lot of close up photography before, and don't have a macro lens. I'm using an Olympus C-5000 digital. Let me know which of these photos you like best! Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

Old Fire Truck

Tarnished Candleabra

Lava Lamp

Tabletop Fountain

Piano Keys

Closet Door

1. I like the piano keys, but
there is nothing in sharp focus. So my vote goes to the fire truck. I love the contrast of the shiny red light with the rusty body.

3. I couldn't get anything into sharp focus that close
Those were the least fuzzy of all the pics I took (about 100). *sighs*

7. If you have PhotoShop
or something, see if you can choose a point of focus and sharpen it. It gets a little tricky. If you try to sharpen too much it gets pixelated. The frustration of not having the right lens. The piano keys, in spite of soft focus, are the clear favorite, here.

The other option is to shoot from a distance where you can get sharp focus and then crop in on the image.

2. For abstract..........
I like the Lava Lamp and Table Fountain. Kewl colors in the fountain. But fave would be the piano keys. Love the perspective. Nice shot.

Fire truck... maybe crop it a tad to close in on a select portion of it.

I don't know.... I really suck at pickin' other peoples photos.

5. Piano Keys!
Although I sure do like Wanna Jump My Scooter's crop suggestion. It's nicely framed, and I like that you have to kind of do a doubletake to realize what those two circles are about. That's the point of close-up photography, imo--to give new perspective to everyday objects.

Which goes back to why I like the pinao keys best. :hi:

6. I'm a musician - I like the piano keys
but I agree with ITF that the crop of the firetruck is very cool.

10. Firetruck and Piano
but I think the piano could be a little bit more in focus. Maybe if you backed away from the keys a little bit and tried that shot again. Or I was thinking how cool it would look to do a photo looking down all the keys... but I don't have a keyboard to try it on  ...and now I've given you an idea to beat me for sure in this month's contest :P
