1. Oooh... have you started yet?
I just got it a few days ago and have been saving it for the weekend. I think I'm going to reread the last chapter of Eragon before I start this one, though. It's been a while.

2. I didn't like Eragon
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 12:28 AM by dwickham
it was like every other fantasy book I've ever read

I didn't see anything special about it and at least one review for Eldest panned the hell out of it

4. Well - that's what genre's are for
to be kind of predictable, aren't they?

I actually prefer SF myself, but a rousing fantasy is fun, too.

Also, what did you not like about Eragon?

And since when do you let "critics" decide what you read and like? :)

3. There's a synopsis
of Eragon at the beginning of Eldest....... though you probably know that by now.

I only got to read that part because my son came home and promptly took the book and won't let it out of his sight. He hides it from me. :)

Sorry I didn't get the message til now - but things've been - well - you know.

5. I did notice that,
amazing how much I had forgotten. I got through a few chapters this weekend, and I'm really enjoying it. I can sort of see why some critics are trying to compare the story line to the star wars series, but I guess I don't care. It's not the best written book in the world, but I don't expect it to be. I just want to see how the story resolves. :D

6. Why do people
expect every book to be a "best seller" or overwhelmingly perfect?

Some books are just fun to read. There are "flaws" in nearly every book if you examine them too closely .

I still haven't gotten it from my son yet. (That's ok - I'm in the middle of another pretty good book.) He has to read another book for a class coming up so he's splitting his time between them. He did say that the beginning is a bit slow (his friends said same) but that it picks up.
