Do judge the risk of taking Tamiflu or Relenza
as you might do with any medication before you take it.Apparently Tamiflu and Relenza have some nasty psychiatric side effects,as in..causing psychosis..suicide etc.
It bothers me that there are not any safer anti-viral drugs out there ..
Because I got a nasty psych history already.I take psych meds already.I have no clue if the anti viral medications would interact with my meds or my PSTD.I think I'll pass on the Tamiflu and Relenza,if I can myself.I'd rather take my chances fighting the friggin flu myself than to risk further disintegration worse than it is already in my own head.I certainly do not want to go back to a psych ward and get re-traumatized and triggered while flipping out from the Tamiflu.

And it makes me concerned the state was ready to give these drugs to people en masse without regard of risk concerning their health histories, other meds they take or their psych histories. On top of taking a flu drug that could mess your mind up the CDC tell us to isolate or"self quarantine" ourselves in our homes and stay tuned to the news. All stressed out, scared, no one to talk to,possibly short on psych meds, sick or caring for a sick person, waiting for an all clear sign.

If that isn't a recipe for a huge potential psych disaster on an epic scale I dunno what is. And people with psych histories might be as vulnerable as children are to the crazy-making side effects of these drugs. It has not been tested.
I remember the Nazis killed the disabled and mentally ill and "unfit" first.Lets just say it creeps me out a little.I hope this H1N1 does not come back with a vengeance in the fall.

The FDA has been reviewing Tamiflu since 2005, after some users, mostly children, reported experiencing hallucinations, delirium, or seizures.

Five deaths in Japan were tied to Tamiflu, after children taking the medicine fell from windows or ran into traffic

1. You should check drug interaction for anything you take, no matter what
Even some herbal remedies (like St Johns Wort) can react badly with anti-depressants.

Some cold and allergy medications (even the ones that don't contain pseudoephedrine) can trigger manic episodes in people with bipolar disorder. I had a particularly bad experience a couple years ago after taking Claritin for about a month during allergy season.

If you have any questions or doubts about medications, check with your psychiatrist or pharmacist.
