I was wondering if anyone has taken or had any experience with Seroquel?
I suffer from OCB, Panic Disorder, Anxiety and depression disorders and have used the following prescriptions:
Inderal
Klonopin
Buspar
Antabuse
Atarax
Xanax
Prozac
Anafranil
Paxil
Zoloft
Wellbutrin
Effexor
Neurontin - 900 mg
Luvox
Serax

with no to little relief from any of them.

All of them to the maximum dosage with the exception of Zoloft. Zoloft brought extreme rage out of me early on and I discontinued it.
Has anyone even heard of it?

1. I've been taking it for about a month.
50 mg. to help me sleep and to help with anxiety. So far, so good. I've actually been sleeping a little too much lately, so I may be able to lower the dosage to 25 mg.

The only complaint I have about it is that it seems to bring on a craving for sweets about an hour after I take it.

2. I just had Geodon replaced with Seroquel,
Haven't been on it long enough to see a real pattern other than I have a much easier time getting up in the morning and I seem to sleep well. I am not exactly sure what it is supposed to be doing for me. I am diagnosed bipolar with obsessive compulsive "tendencies." I also have some anxiety (which may be a simple fact of having a life that is so fucked up (marriage on the verge of divorce, no job, just declared bankruptcy). So, who knows what is really causing the anxiety. Like I told my Doctor "tell me it's possible to make a pill that makes you feel good even when your life is fucked up." He admitted it can't really be done.

3. I've taken in in lower doses (25-50mg)
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 03:11 PM by Sgent
to help me sleep -- and it is the only drug I've been prescribed that could help me do that. For me it was a wonder drug -- when ambien and sonata didn't even make me yawn.

It is also used in some manics (at dosages of 800mg +) to abort acute mania -- similar to Haldol for that use.

There is a side effect of weight gain in some people, and it could contribute to blood sugar problems (unkown exactly how, but only that it does) if you are at risk. Its just something to be aware of -- epsecially if you take daily and not prn.

5. How long have you been with your doctor and how do you like her/him?
Doug (and I) have been prescribed and prescribed.

But the lousy doctors blame you for the failure of the drug to alleviate your discomfort. The good ones keep thinking with you until something WORKS.

We have the tech.
