Does anyone else ever feel like they are about to explode?
I feel so claustrophobic in the world - like I just want to get away from all of humanity and go someplace peaceful where I am not bothered by the insanity of everyday life.

Am I insane? I just feel like I want to stand in the middle of the street and scream bloody hell!

1. Mostly, I'm too tired to think about the satisfaction of blowing
my stack. But, sure, I can get there.

I think you have to be pretty sane just to think about it.

What's going on?

2. I think some of it might be the heat and the fact that I
just moved into a TINY apartment in NYC with a roommate who is ALWAYS there and never leaves me alone, so I have to stay out a lot and I am naturally an introvert.

Thanks for asking, maybe the problem is just that I am an introverted person who is being pestered to death by a need extrovert and suffocated by summer in NYC - I really didn't even think of WHY I felt this way before you asked the question.

Also, I am out of work and broke, which may have something to do with it. Thanks SFexpat2000! :hi:

3. Oh boy. Sounds like a receipe for head exploding.
How long have you been with the new roomy?

Our apartment is great because it's really cheap and we can do a lot of stuff we love as we don't have a big nut to cover.

But a lot of the time, sharing 450 sq ft with another person makes me want to run out of the place screaming. I need a lot of alone/thinking/quiet doing time. And, don't get it. Maybe that's why I'm tired all the time. :silly:

4. I used to feel that way a lot
Although it was under different crcumstances than you described to sfexpat. But I do know the feeling. I think that it comes from being under a lot of pressure. It makes one edgy and uncomfortable. When you are constantly worrying about money especially it can make you intolerant of just the things that happen in every day life, thus the feeling of wanting to get away from it all. I bet you will find that when you find a job and it pays you what you need, things will loook a lot more optimistic. And if your room mate and the city are still getting to you, save up a little money and move out to a small town in the midwest like me. I have a very relaxing lifestyle.

7. I think you are right about the money issue
It makes me feel trapped and powerless and it colors every aspect of my life. I also think I am getting ready for a mellower lifestyle - there are things I love about the city, but it's taking a toll on me.

I want my own place - I am really a homebody at heart and I want a dog or two to take care of. :)

5. I feel that way alot lately and even did
explode Friday on my spouse who once again did something that messed up our finances. I can so relate to wanting to get away to a peaceful place and I feel like my "roommate" (otherwise known as my spouse) drives me crazy. Finances have been a major sore spot for us and I believe that when finances are tight, everything boils. It's just so stressful, so I can definitely relate to what you are feeling.

6. I agree with you and with Droopy about money.
I can handle most any stress better than that one. It goes to our most basic needs.

When we're stressed out about money, I don't even try to take anything else on before that is handled. Somebody could be burning my house down and I'd just think, "first I have to check the bank".

8. Thanks to everyone for their input - sometimes you need to
just get it off your chest. I think I desperately need a vacation, which is coming. Not my dream vacation (staying w/ family because I have no money to go anywhere) but still it will be nice to get away from all the heat and madness in the city.

Thanks again all! :)
