Did you guys see this picture?
This infuriates me. I just read the story about the murder/suicide in Texas, the Katrina family who had gotten evicted, it's friggin' CHRISTMAS FOR CHRISSAKE, and now they're dead.

And this, THIS, is their fucking solution to the failings of the Liar 'n Thief. First we were told he was a voracious reader, really he is. :grr: And now we get this goddamned picture in front of a bunch of books. Don't actually DO SOMETHING, oh hell no. Just another friggin' photo op. I swear one of these days I'm going to POP!!!

1. Well he still looks like a dumb-ass. What's that he is writing?
Could it be something from a Dick and Jane classic. See Spot, see Spot run, run Spot run.

I just looooove how he has that big book called MEGADIVERSITY - It's the only one you can clearly make out the title.
pleeze. This is probably taken at the local Crawford library.

3. Oh yeah, I saw that too
George reads books and is d-i-v-e-r-s-e. :eyes:

I am really fuming over this. Do you know how little respect they have to have for the people to shuffle this shit on to us?? Yeah, I know the true believers and all, but I am insulted to the core of my being. Just livid. He probably doesn't even KNOW what is happening to the Katrina survivors, certainly doesn't care if he does. This is exactly why 9/11 happened, photo ops instead of doing his damned job.

5. and i just saw a post with a link to a wp article
about how he is clearing brush and other nonsense.

the media makes me especially angry. they aren't doing their job in holding him accountable. i remember Clinotn and how he was held responsible for Somalia, and so many other things. they even went after Kerry as candidate on things like his medals.

yet when it comes to the Chimp they just don't do their jobs. i really hate them. i always get this horrible defeated feeling because of them. we see everything that is happening and you think people will get it. but they don't since the media doesn't exactly do their job and inform people.

7. Clinton was held responsible for Somalia,
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 08:10 AM by Island Blue
yet he didn't even get us in there to begin with. That was Poppy Bush's handiwork - a "welcome to the job" gift if you will for Big Dawg.

If during the first four years of the * presidency, the media had spent 1/10th of the time talking about Dim Son's failings as they did talking about Clinton's bj, President Kerry would be looking forward to his second year and office right about now.

And should it really be "news" when a POTUS reads a book or writes a letter?

8. He's not writing a letter or even signing it.
He's doodling. Look at the pen and look where the writing is. Most people are leaving that wide of separation unless they're 1. fudging it 2. doodling 3. drawing pictures.

But I guess his base is stupid enough to believe this propaganda.

And in terms of the media...well, when any democratic President returns to power, they'll suddenly exist again.

9. Well most of the books are really thin, and
the fat one has a cover like a trash novel.

C'mon guys, where's that pic (or those pics) of JK sitting in front of, or inside JK's house, showing what a REAL reader's bookshelf looks like?

I think you will find the contrast striking. One for show, one for real. Like the men themselves.

10. Here are the only ones I could come up with at the moment.

The first one was taken at THK's Fox Chapel home and the second one was taken in their Boston home.

I don't think I've ever seen a photo of JK posed in front of a wall of books. He doesn't need to - it's pretty obvious that he's actually read a book or two in his day.

JK and THK

:loveya:

Imagine the conversation is often not about what Bush reads, but whether or not he does read. There was a lecture on the subject in these parts.

the book spillage - anyone who loves and reads books has the telltale signs on easy display - the stacking, the messiness. Signs of a true book lover.

19. I was going to say the same thing
That's how my bookshelves usually look--books stuck everywhere, because they are actually taken out and read, then put back haphazardly. These are people who read! :)

11. I say bush*'s 'books' are fake.
http://www.fauxbooks.co.uk/index.htm

You can buy faux books to hide your mags, CDs and valuables. You can even put your stash in them (so I've been told).
bush*'s books are fake, I tell ya. Bet if you check, there are no pages in 'em.

13. Agree
No one who owns books and actually reads them has a bookshelf that neat. They'd be crammed in and stacked on top. Fake, fake, fake, just like everything else about him.

15. Like the Kerry house pics, especially the bottom one (Beacon Hill)
In the Boston house he has books slid in on top of the ones standing up - exactly the way a real book-lover's shelf ends up.

The Fox Chapel one is a little too neat but I'm guessing he spends less time there and they are the less referred to books (or dupe copies of the most important ones). Also notice how even in that one, the photos are mostly in front of books, instead of having shelves to themselves.

Let's just say I can relate.

25. I love this thread - that's how all our book shelves look!
Even when I try to organize them. And your right - the books are taking over - behind photos.

Didn't the Georgetown student (Leftylizzie ?)who posts here mention that the room she could see had books piled everywhere? But form the quotes or references he makes to books or scholars, Kerry clearly is a bisg reader. Brinkley in Tour of Duty has paragraphs at the beginning of the book talking about how well read he was.

17. Look at the books though - They don't look like heavy reading
They are not fat, scholarly books. (Other than the one with country-side type colors, which if I had to guess is probably a "girl" book that belongs to Laura. The only title I can read is "Megadiversity".

But in reality, the point is not that he reads or not - but that he still doesn't seem to get how bad things are for the people affected. (Could you say he doesn't connect.)

27. Did anyone read Kitty Kelly's book on the Bushes?
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 01:04 PM by Island Blue
I read it earlier this year when to appease my anger over the election I read every anti-Bush, anti-Republican thing I could get my hands on. Anyway, in it she says (and I don't remember her source) that when * was growing up the only book the family had in their house was a book of fart jokes. Seems far fetched, but somehow I believe it.

36. Ya know, I kind of do
Because I read Babs' book where she was talking about one of the kids or grandkids' dyslexia. They learned about it from the teacher. Now, uhm, if you were reading books with your kids wouldn't you have a clue something was wrong long before the teacher told you??? I'll have to go see if I can find that info again, I don't think I've got her book anymore.

I think it was one of *'s brothers that's dyslexic, either Neil or Marvin. Neil, I think. Babs comes off one mean, vicious bitch in the book, and I suspect that's the truth.

28. I think it's fairly obvious that John Kerry
has written more books than Dumbya has ever read. (There was 'My Pet Goat' and that's about it. He never did find out how that one eneded and he can't start a new one until he finished that one. It's going to be a while.)

Sen. Kerry hopes to have a new book out in the Spring. Then we can organize book signings and stuff. That will be fun.

29. A poster in GD
pointed out that the one book in the middle looks like 'Clan of the Cave Bear'. Now that's a big book for a big boy. I like how it is casually placed to look like it has been there awhile. What do you suppose they ran all over the ranch to fill those shelves up? My bet - these are the only books in the entire house.
