Anybody else baffled?
Jimmy Carter said the Administration misled us into war, they can hear that. Kerry said it two years ago, fell on deaf ears. Kerry had a plan to get us out of the war and begin withdrawing troops this past summer. Howard Dean uttered Kerry, or Hayden, and we suddenly have a plan where we didn't before?? They say they never meant they knew with certainty there were no WMD, but rant on and on that Congress was duped and they knew. Despite the fact that nobody knew about Wilson's trip or the forgeries and that's the basis of the new information? Do I think weirdly??

I know I will have to get on board whatever unity comes out of this, but geez this makes me mad. We could have been here two years ago if these people hadn't been led around by the right wing media calling the Democratic plan "stay the course".

1. words cannot express the bafflement/disgust I feel

about all of it. I was out all day and just saw a GD Kerry Iraq Plan, and the knee-jerk negativity and the knee-jerk "shut up Kerry shut up." I saw DU threads demanding that Senators denounce and apologize for their IWR votes. I saw DU threads denouncing Senators for apologizing for their IWR votes. I saw other threads where no own is willing to blame Bush for the admin's horror show of cooked intel -- all about blaming dems.

Why does this stuff become so intense after good news for Dems? Seems like the intensity of it is up after Libby indictment and yesterday's moves by Reid et al.

enough for me for the day -- i'm outta here to get some rest.

2. They are never satisfied
and they jump on a bandwagon, with no thought or reasoning.

Talk about flip-floppers, they praise one person and slap another for the same thing. They talk childish shit, like I think I want to marry a certain person because of one stance he took, never mind if that person doesn't stand for their principles, for example (remember the lovefest for Hagel) and the list goes on.

These people are followers not free thinkers. They focus on one thing when there is so much more to everything that is wrong in this country, and worst of all they divide instead of unite. They are not worth the time of day.

They totally disgust me. :argh:

4. Outside of DU, in the real world, what do people say?
I saw thousands of people today at the Rosa Parks' service who cheered Sen. Kerry oration. They seemed to like him and seem willing to listen. They responded to his call for action to give life to the words that were being said to honor this great woman. People seemed to me to be responding positively.

I saw a sell-out crowd at Gaston Hall in Georgetown last week. That included graduates of the Naval Academy who asked Sen. Kerry some pretty good questions. That seemed good. (Oh, and in Sept. I saw about a thousand people or more line up to hear Sen. Kerry speak. The topic was not released before hand. They seemed pretty happy to see him and listened intently.)

I see that Sen. Kerry is one of the people who is quoted quite a bit in the 'big' papers in America like the NYTimes, WaPo and the LA Times when big events happen. These papers seem to think it is still worthwhile to get a kerry quote on current events.

You know politicans who actually take stands make enemies. This is a sad but true fact of political life. There are people who will never be on your side. They are not your people and they never will be. That is the nature of politics. Dwelling on the negative can be a good form of self-criticism and can cause a person to evaluate the actions they have taken to see if they need to make changes. But some people are just negatives. They add nothing positive at all to the conversation. You can't dwell on these people and you can't let them get you down. Sen. Kery knows this. I mean, when people say they are going to fight, it implies tht there is someone to fight against. It just so happens that you know now who these people are. They will always be there. It's the nature of democracy.

7. I was surprised at the amount of applause that he got
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 11:39 PM by karynnj
when he first came up - I had only pulled up the link when the MI gov was speaking - but it seemed more than the other Senators. Michigan was a swing state - I wonder if this is because these people had seem him and liked him.

I think you put things in excellent perspective. DU is very small and even here a small portion of people make a lot of noise. After seeing a post here on whose disgruntled fans are causing a lot of the trouble, I decided to read (not post) their group - nothing is happening. (all I found is that the general spoke at IU - one person went and I read his positive summary -but it was nothing like whome's and your reports. They blamed the lack of excitement on Ind being a Republican state - but then on a link to another blog - they complained about the Deaniacs and Naderites last year. I don't know if this typical though.

I think they are unhappy that Kerry is doing what they want their favorite to do.

5. I'm not baffled.
The posters who bash Kerry are the same ones who have always bashed him - well, at least for as long as I've been reading at DU. No matter what he does or says, they want to tear him down. Most of the animosity against Democratic senators is directed at John Kerry. I don't get it, unless they see him a threat to their personal hopefuls in 08.

I once posted on a GDp thread that I was having deja vu, in that some of the posts reminded me of when I debated Bush supporters online after the 04 primaries. It's true. Some DU posters sound just like them.

It's good to know Mr. Kerry has a vast number of supporters, and that the anti-Kerry crowd is greatly outnumbered in the real world.

6. Like JI7 said, they don't care about the issues
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 11:24 PM by politicasista
They would rather argue about the wording of the petition, the IWR, and poop on any pro-Kerry thread. It's sick and depressing. :argh:

Kudos to everyone for jumping in that mess. :yourock:

8. Randi Rhodes said we were misled
She doesn't blame our Congressfolks. I thought she was someone progressive listened to.

Apparently not.
