What to do to deal with our cynical minority at DU?
Problem: what to do about the shrill minority at DU who seem to love to bash Kerry and others, and "tear down" rather than support positive things that our Dems in government are trying to do? While I have my private doubts that all of them are actually Dems, they do get many people following along.

Possible solution: Give them other things to scream or laugh about. I had some success yesterday with a post about how Walmart is losing money and why. I also had success a week or so with a post which speculated as to whether Bush was drinking again. A fun thread, to say the least, and harmless to Dems.
My idea is this: since they seem to love to be negative and cynical about whatever the topic is, let's steer them toward more worthy targets: Bush and his minions, and greedy corporations, polluters, corrupt officials and institutions, which would help take the target off the backs of Democrats like Kerry and others. I know there is stuff like this on DU now, but we need more. I'm going to try to find more stuff like this to post. It will get true information out there about our real enemies, and may help draw fire away from the good guys! I want to be pro-active and take pre-emptive measures. I think we can do more than just damage-control after the attacks happen.

Do you think this might help?

1. i understand what you are doing, but
i really don't care about them anymore. it's the same few mostly anyways. i mostly ignore them .

i have been on DU for a long time and it has always been mostly anti Kerry. if anyone here thinks it's going to stop then they are wrong. but that's why i mostly come into this forum.

2. It won't stop the bashing, but there's nothing wrong with experimenting

3. i agree, we should focus on other things also
i post things that have to do with the 2005 and 2006 elections at times. but they never get many responses.

i'm just saying that if the goal is to stop the bashing it wont happen. i really think the best is to ignore certain bashing threads and certain people because they tend to be the same people and responding to them just allows the bashing threads to continue. in many of the threads if nobody responded then it would have easily dropped down without many or any responses.
