Really nice article on Kerry visiting Brockton (Patriot Leader)
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 08:48 AM by karynnj
The article is about both a surprise visit to a senior citizen picnic and a serious meeting with the local officials on education, housing and public safety. Kerry wants to help get them funding because they absorded 140 of the Haitains displaced by the earthquake. For my 4 paragraphs, I am quoting the catnip, rather than the substance. (and this article has an abundance of both.

Pat Kirkpatrick swooned like a teenager as U.S. Sen. John Kerry made a surprise visit to the annual senior picnic Tuesday at Brockton High School.

Kirkpatrick, 79, has been an admirer of Kerry’s for more than 35 years, since his days speaking out against the Vietnam War.

“My son almost got called into it,” Kirkpatrick said, and when she saw Kerry speak in the early 1970s on the steps of Boston City Hall, she became an ardent fan.

She grabbed a few moments with Kerry at the picnic, told him about that day and even danced for a few seconds with him.

2. I've noticed that he often seems more relaxed

around kids, older people and animals. As opposed to snotty reporters and hostile pundits, that is. :-)

p.s. GREAT article and wonderful photos! What a sweet lady, and I love it that she "danced a little with him"!

4. Or Democrats!
He was great speaking to people after the Barnstable rally the night before the 2008 election, which I am am still happy that some of us were priviledged to attend. The video is still on Johnkerry.com and I've sometimes watched it when things get nasty.

(I also noticed he got more response when he spoke at Pan Mass than the lesser Senator, who is now the sole Senator on a trip to Jordan and Israel with Armed Services and Homeland Security (why, I don't know) staff, according to the BH and BG.

5. reason: those are categories of (mostly) BS-free creatures
No wonder he looks so happy!
I find that I judge people precisely by their kindness towards and appreciation of children, elders, and animals.
Interesting and most pertinent observation.

3. This is a really nice article. It is good to see some positive coverage of the Senator.
Of course, we can always rely on the Republican garbage talkers to come out and make sure they post something nasty.
It really is a shame these types of people are so nasty and negative-they must be a joy to live with or know.

Of, the first link isn't working, but the second is just fine.
