I've been absent for a bit
as I have been fighting the fight as a teacher in Wisconsin. I have found that "discussing" the issues in local newspaper discussion boards is eerily similar to the "discussions" with theists in R/T. I have been approaching it with the same attitude that I am NEVER going to change their minds but can help provide a counterbalance to those more reasonable that are reading.

So, anyway, just letting you know I haven't dropped off the face of the earth and I appreciate you all keeping up the good fight here in our little corner of the world.

Cheers you godless bastards.

3. Yeah, I'm one of the unwashed masses
that goes down to Madison every chance I can to make things uncomfortable for the Republicans.

No, seriously, it is an important fight in Madison, for many people beyond the state, in the end. Good luck with it.

5. Thank you!
I'm afraid that particular fight will spread here to NM sooner or later, since we got stuck with teabagger Susana la Tejana for our governor. She's awful, trying to govern by fiat and getting slapped down by the courts, and eventually she'll turn her attention to trying to cheat working people out of what we've paid for. They all do.

And you're right, that the right wingers posting crap on message boards are just like theists, spewing rubbish they've been told that they've got compartmentalized in their brains in some untouchable, unreachable area. There is nothing you can do about a true believer except provide some balance for the people who aren't quite so sure about things. The key is to post and walk away from continuing to poke the crazy. There are other folks out there who will post sane stuff and you have to trust them, too.

It's great how working people in Wisconsin have been awakened. That's going to spread to all the states that have teabaggers in office as the awful truth dawns on people who were fooled into voting for them, that they're all Koch whores who have no interest in the state or its people.
